then i don't appreciate your spam faves. the way i see it is that you will just do that to everyone and hoard faves like they mean nothing - and if everything is favourited, the impression is given that there's nothing special or unique about any of my uploads.
if you favourite some of the things i upload in particular, and perhaps give a comment stating what you like about it, THAT is when i appreciate you! an artist doesn't like to feel like their work has no worth, and when you favourite the ones you think are special, and if you tell me why you think it stands out from the others, that makes an artist happy :}
it's not just me that has this opinion! please click on the link below and read, it explains this very well and i agree with everything that they say here:
for the love of god, dont just fave every single damn thing i post! don't be a fave spammer!
Fave spams are silly. If nothing else it defeats the point of the faves if you can't go back through 'em and find a thing you like!
I wholly agree with you on this. I normally put a statement in my artist description saying I want feedback on my work if people fav it, but it always gets ignored. It doesn't just happen on this site in particular, but all art community sites I've used. Well, apart from storm-artists anyway because I always disable favs on my work there to stop fav and runners.
ohh man, storm-artists, i miss that website and i miss that damn feature ;_; thinking of coming back to Storm but i can barely keep up with all my sites :'}
If only all art websites had that feature, then we wouldn't have this damn problem!
I've suggested it countless times in the past on DA in the suggestions forum, but it seems that most people who hang around in that particular forum is against it for some unknown reason, but that's deviantART users for you. There's no reason to be against a feature that would be completely optional and no-one would be forced to use it ><
You're lucky a friend of mine isn't furry, but on facebook he likes every i post. I've once had 36 notifications of likes all from him.

That's my general strategy, I agree. I won't fav more than a handful of things that stand out and will usually leave some comments, and if I really like the gallery overall then I'll +follow. Aside from a few friends, if someone takes the time to go look at my favs or follow list, I want them to see people who are worth their time, regardless of skill level.
