Long story short my contract ended in February, I was unemployed, picked up a few small contract jobs, then just recently I accepted a job as a production coordinator.
So far the job has been challenging and busy, it's also in TO so it takes me two hours + to commute on public transit... but I'm really enjoying it so far and everyone is super friendly and helpful. Despite the long hours I look forward going in every day.
My partner and I are looking into moving closer to the city to cut down on both our commute times. Hopefully it all works out because I don't like coming home every night at 11pm. All that being said i'm basically not around anymore or doing art. I am going to contact everyone who I owe commissions to and offer to either wait for me to work on them on weekends or to let me hand over the sketches/linework over so someone else can finish up the work.
I feel terrible about it because I don't like dropping commissions OR making people wait a long time and that's what this situation is. Thankfully I haven't made anyone pay upfront so no refunds will be necessary.
Anyway i'm still keeping an eye on what's going on around here, just can't do any art!
Hopefully everyone is doing alright, thanks for reading!
AW MAN, Congrat.s on the new job! I'm glad to hear your doing good in life :D. I hope you and your partner can make the move closer to the city, make life a little easier for the both of ya.
Congrats!!! Ugh, commuting to TO is rough, it's true! We live in Guelph, and I checked out a couple jobs in Markham and central TO and it definitely seems like moving closer would be preferable. That said, I hope you're getting a lot of reading or other relaxing done on the commute! And mostly I'm glad you have SOMETHING!
