FurDU 2014 - Video & My Experience by nightdragon0

Recently back from the Furry Down Under convention (FurDU) 2014.
Going from Singapore to the Gold Coast in Australia went relatively fine. Flight was late by 2 & 1/2 hours due to the bad weather though.

This being only my second fur convention (my previous one was Anthrocon 2013), I was so itching to get back into action. While I have to say it didn't have the 'magic' of being a first experience, I did have the benefit of better knowing what to expect and what I wanted to do.
And in a manner of speaking, do or fix the things I couldn't do at the last convention. I definitely left feeling much more fulfilled.

Biggest one was being able to combine my two interests: fursuiting & filming. I couldn't do it at AC cause I lacked the equipment & energy. Made some investments, mainly the Go-Pro & monopod (my #Selfie stick, as I was telling people) and this was the result, my FurDU 2014 Convention Video:

I had a cooling vest this time too, and wow it was a major difference. Even when I had to go without it, I was still energized enough from wearing it earlier. Money well spent for http://ezcooldown.com

A smaller convention has such a different feel. More time to just hang around, talk to people, actually eat and not worry that you're missing out on stuff or missing appointments. Chatted with a lot of people and had a lot of fun interactions while in fursuit. I don't think I could name them all here!

Got to be in another of Duke's music videos, second one in a row. A song titled 'On Top of the World' is a pretty witty choice for being filmed in the Land Down Under! I look forward to seeing how it turns out :)

Had the drive to go for longer at the night dances this time. My alternate fursuit head (with better vision) certainly helped (I was actually able to see in the darker areas), along with me bringing the addons to convert my fursuit to a partial. I think the smaller crowd helped a lot too.

Joining in the Dance Competition was probably my highlight though. I was trying to surprise my friends who were there, but they all ended up knowing before it started anyway >.<
I did some Para Para like 10 years ago, but never anything like this. I managed to put something together & practice some weeks before the convention.
I've got loads to improve on though. Probably try to not forget parts of my own performance for one. But as a Scientist IRL, one thing we're taught is when giving a presentation, make sure you look like you know what you're saying, even if you don't actually know what you're saying. (Sorry Uncle Kage! XD )
Considering I didn't pass out from the nervousness, I'd say I really enjoyed it. Most definitely going to try for more in the future.

My one disappointment was not being able to do the beach fursuit walk due to it being raining. I had been looking forward to that after seeing the photos from last year.
Ah well, there's always next time. Yet another reason to go back again!

Will be uploading some of the photos, but I've got a bunch taken by myself and some friends at:

Now, back to mundane-ss for a while.
