Unfortunately, in the light of the recent C&Ds by Hasbro, I will no longer be drawing MLP art for commissions.
Honestly, I have let my rules about trademarked and copyrighted characters slip over the last year or so. I'm not really comfortable drawing them for money, and I've been allowing people to commission me for digimon, pokemon, ponies, etc. I'm not comfortable with that and so I will be going back to my hardline approach of not drawing them for commissions at all.
This of course excludes parodies and characters with a 30% difference from the original trademarked character. I am still comfortable drawing those, at my own discretion.
Yes, I am aware I just posted a commission series that featured an MLP character. That was the last one I plan to do, as I came to this decision while I was finishing the series.
Apologies for any upset or inconvenience this causes, and thanks for reading.
(Can't respond directly to other comment atm...) Aaah, makes sense. And just out of curiosity, since I was considering trademarking a few of my characters... if I own the trademark, wouuld it be okay? =o
I'm somewhat curious whether this extends to trademarked species or just trademarked characters. The distinction is rather important, and I think should be clarified in your policy. You do mention pokemon and digimon (likely referring to species, not characters) and also ponies (which probably refers to characters? I'm not sure.), I just think it should be clarified.
