Teeth help? by SunflowerBun

There's a hole in the center of my tooth and it keeps chipping more and I can't exactly afford dental help or have insurance... I don't know what to do. I don't know anything I can do because all help I can find is to go to a dentist and I have no money or way to pay it.
I can't eat anything without it hurting or bleeding and even if I drink through a straw it hurts and starts bleeding.
I try not to complain about it too much but it's starting to really scare me. If it keeps bleeding I'm afraid I might get some kind of infection and make it worse... I'm worried sick about it.

Sadly if your gums are bleeding and it's temperature sensitive you're probably very close to the nerve in the tooth so there isn't much you'll be able to do for that. If you want to do something you can trying cleaning it well and then using temporary filling to fill it in.

I don't mean to scare you though, but I did have one of my front teeth slowly die from a very slight exposed nerve. It's not pleasant in the slightest and if your nerve is exposed the only thing that'll really help you is extraction or root canal. If it's one of your back teeth extraction is far cheaper. But as a temp-fix a temporary filling you can get at a pharmacy should at least prolong how soon you need to actually see a dentist.

Eeeeech.....teeth problems D= There's not really much you can do =C Only thing I can suggest is to like, next time you go to Walmart or something, go to the health/dental area and look for GUM products. See if there's like, some kind of packing wax to get and maybe patch up the hole. It's something my mom had to do as she had a similar problem and the air (or whatever) would hit an exposed nerve (and dear god those were a problem in of itself X/). It's not a permanent fix though =\ It won't stop it from chipping and I don't know how long it'll even last to keep things out.... I hope you do find some help in getting that looked at though =x

If you've damaged a tooth and it hurts if you put pressure onto it, sadly the only thing to do is to go see a dentist :/

If you don't have a dental college with a cheap program for students to work on you, then it's not a permanent fix, but watch this video on making fake vampire fangs. You could technically use the same technique for making a filling for your hole and use dental cement to set it so it doesn't keep falling out. Keep in mind these will not stand up to the regular abuse of eating/drinking very well so you might have to keep making them until you can afford something permanent.

oh yeah, a couple of things to keep in mind before you do this, use a disinfectant like a mouth wash first, then rinse with water, then dry out the tooth and the surrounding area completely with cottonballs tucked in between the gums and lips. You'll need something to keep you from closing your mouth during this procedure while the dental cement sets.

Also keep in mind this will not match the color of your teeth very well and will likely stand out, which is why most people pay for a dentist or orthodontist.

Oogg. DX That sounds awful. I wish I could help, but I wouldn't know what to do either, except find a way to see the dentist. :( I hope you feel better soon.

Any chance you can find an income based dentist near you? That's what I have to use, if anything they can pull it out.

Ick, that really sucks. Probably the cheapest, simplest solution would just be to have the tooth extracted. If there's a dental college anywhere in your area, that's probably the cheapest option, if you don't mind letting students work on you. Though, if the one in my area is any indication, they're generally pretty damn good by the time they get to work on actual people like that. Otherwise, you might try calling area dentists to see what sort of prices they charge, or if one of them might offer a payment plan or something.

In any case, I wish you all the best. I was without any kind of medical insurance for years, and I know how scary it is to have a problem crop up like this, with no easy way to fix it.
