Back home, and lazarus tablet by Rollup

Apologies to all commissioners for the lack of progress over the last 2 weeks or so; the planets just sort of aligned against it.

Essentially, two weeks ago was an exam week, and i was also sent more work than usual by my day job, so I didn't have much time to draw.

Last week, I was gone on a trip! I did plan to work on commissions during my free time, but instead I was sent yet more urgent work - so that's once again what I spent most of my free time on. More annoyingly, my tablet (a 6-year old Intuous 3) broke down. Just an issue with the cord (turned out 3 of the 4 wires inside had somehow cleanly cut in half - I guess their resistance to tension is pretty bad?), not the tablet itself. But since the model is so old, Wacom refused to take it in for repairs anymore (even though I was willing to pay) and since tablets are apparently terrifying, the computer shop I went to to get it repaired wouldn't dare try to fix it, instead telling me to "contact the manufacturer"...

I guess I could have waited until I came back home to find someone who actually knows how to fix electronics, but frankly i was really upset and after some googling, I decided to take it upon myself to repair the tablet... despite my absolute lack of knowledge of anything related to electrical repairs, my lack of tools (a swiss army knife, an x-acto from my high school days, a borrowed kit of inappropriate specialty screwdrivers and duct tape? Sounds good) and having no confidence whatsoever. Took me an evening and a lot of elbow grease...

... but it works!

The cord is still fiddly (the connection fails if I move it around too much) and now it's covered in duct tape, but the tablet itself still works just fine. I'm not sure how long that's going to last, but I can't afford a new one, so it'll have to do for, well, as long as possible.

Anyway - I don't expect to get quite as much work to do this week, and I only have 2 exams to go, so I expect to be able to get back to commissions before the week is out. I'll keep everyone in touch as appropriate.
