How does one go about selling a character? by Shadderstag

I don't know how many people have been around long enough to remember my ooooold fursona, Jasper, though chances are you've seen her around somewhere at some point in time. This is her for those of you who need a refresher/have never seen her before.

I want nothing to do with her anymore. But I like her design and I know several other people do as well, so I figured I'd just sell her.

Only problem is that, on top of her design, she comes with a /massive/ amount of artwork--like, a lot--by several well known artists around the furry community. So I wouldn't just be selling her, I'd be selling the rights to those images as well.

What the hell do I do? Like... I honestly have no idea how to even begin to try and figure out an asking price...

I just noticed that my tab ate about half my comment and made it a quote. Nice.
Jaaasper? I've always loved your character, if you're willing to consider art-offers I'd love to give a shot. Totally understandable if you'd rather only take monies for her. And Uhm, how much art are you talking about? ;u; I'd auction her out, maybe starting at $75 because of the ref sheet.

If I can't sell her I'd absolutely take you up on the art offer. I'll figure something out! And uhh, this is all the art I have of her, both by me and others.

I see a lot of people doing this lately, selling old fursonas or even fursuits along with character rights and amounts of artwork for extra cash or whatever reason, in my opinion it can be an iffy road. Some people love it and a lot of people wont show interest because; well I guess that's their hang up.

If you've BOUGHT any art from other artists that's included in the bulk of it, when you're buying anything the resell value is typically less than 40% so if that's the case I recommend taking a generalized price of the art's value and cutting it in half...

If it's all personal art, I suppose it's just your call, if she has any sentimental value, ect, or taking the worth-price of the reference sheet(s?) and adding or subtracting to it. Kind of a tough question.

Yeah I guess it would be different for everyone. I... don't think I actually bought any of the art I have of her, surprisingly. I was either paid to draw it myself, or others paid people to draw her for me, or they were trades/requests. Wait, no, I bought a couple of the icons.
