#100HappyDays Project by Bri Mercedes

Have you noticed my latest submissions? They're the beginning of my next project inspired by 100HappyDays.com. I will be creating daily illustrations based on what made me happy recently. Daily illustrations are time-consuming by nature, so more complicated ones may be posted every other day. Regardless, I will keep going until I hit 100.

It came about while I was reading my Twitter feed and I saw someone talk about it. It isn't an art prompt, it's just asking people to think about what made them happy that day and post it to social media with the hashtag #100HappyDays. I'd been sad because I wasn't really doing anything with my art except doodles and random art trades to keep me going. I went to school to be a children's book illustrator and I wasn't working on a book because I didn't think my art and ideas were good enough yet. I'd been out of college for about 9 months and was not making any money as an artist to back up my $40k student loan (my husband and I currently work multiple part-time jobs to support ourselves, he's in the same boat as he got a degree in photography). I realized that my artistic goal wasn't to be cutting-edge or controversial or lucrative: I just wanted to make people happy. So I began.

Once they are all complete, I may be offering them for sale as a collection in book form and they will be for sale as individual prints and greeting cards on Society6. You can also fund this project on Patreon.

I blame you for introducing me to that challenge :B
I got into it too, although I'm just doing pictures on instagram, but I thought it'd be a neat thing to do and it'd help me notice all the little things in my life that make me happy...maybe take some of the sting out of the weekends too.

What a great challenge! Also, I suggest offering your prints on InPrnt. They pay 50% royalty, unlike Society6.
