Texas Furry Fiesta 2014 by TigerPillow

Or at least as much as I can remember

Prepare for giant text wall!

Day 1

I'm going to lump Thursday and Friday into day one here since we got in so late Thursday night. I had to work on Thursday so we didn't even start driving up toward Dallas til around 6PM and with driving time and stopping for breaks we got in around 11. The new hotel is pretty nice but parking seems to fill up way faster, we had to park in the garage. Luckily we weren't too far from the door to the hotel. Also the Furry Fiesta website lied to us, the pool and hot tub was NOT open >:C

Not much really happened Thursday night, found some friends rather quickly and wandered around the new hotel a bit to get the layout, I got some good footage of some early fursuiters but then went to bed pretty soon after that.

Friday we got up pretty early and down to the registration line to pick up our badges, we got a pretty good place in line and registration was VERY efficient and we got that done rather quickly. We were all pretty hungry so we tried looking up a place within walking distance to eat. Walking distance because the parking garage where the van was cost $10 PER EXIT. We found out about a place called Dream Cafe that was pretty close and set out to find it. Of course it did mean crossing an insanely busy intersection twice as it was on a block diagonal from the hotel. The whole thing was a rather large shopping center and we were all kinda hungry and still groggy from waking up so we gave up looking for Dream Cafe and settled on The Original Pancake House. The food was ok, but Just ok. Once we got back to the hotel I wandered around some to get some footage of people and fursuits... mainly fursuits XD

The voice acting panel got canceled because the guy running it got sick and couldn't make it so the staff decided to replace it with DODGEBALL! That was a lot of fun and I got some pretty good footage of that, I hope that catches on XD. Opening ceremonies were pretty uneventful but we still went since we do that every year.

Later that night a few of us did the Casino Night. It was pretty fun and all the buy in proceeds went to C.A.R.E. which is the charity that Furry Fiesta helps out. We started on Black Jack but weren't having much luck, even after pinko stole one of my $100 chips =P. After that we moved over to Texas Hold'em which wasn't very active until after we showed up and started playing a few hands. I actually lost out at first but pinko gave back the $100 she stole before and I actually managed to win back quite a bit of money. By the time the casino night was over I got 4th place in total chips for the night! There were prizes too! They set them all up on a table and basically just let each person have a pick of what was on the table. I went away with an adorable snow leopard plush that I later found out is a puppet!

Day 2

SATURDAY! We got up early again because we're all kinda old and go to bed around midnight or so... Anyway this morning we set out to actually find Dream Cafe, dunno why we were so adamant but it just sounded cool. SO we found out it was waaaay deep in the shopping center and was even facing away from the main road. OH. MY. GOD. The food there is AMAZING! pinko ordered a steak eggs Benedict and was brought to tears by a perfectly cooked steak and perfectly poached eggs. Seriously some of the best restaurant food we've had in a while.

After that I wandered around a bit more with the camera to find more awesome fursuiters before the parade. The parade itself was fun and there were even more suiters than ever that came thru. This year there was an escalator involved in the path and that caused some excitement. There was even a REALLY good Cruella DeVille cosplay there.

Later on in the day I actually helped out as an extra for a skit in the Furry Drama Show. A friend was doing the song When You're Evil by Voltaire and had a group of people to do evil things to. It was pretty fun and from the stage it sounded like the audience was into it too =D

Later on we went to the adult art Panel with Crys like we do every year and as always that's a lot of fun. After that went to a fatty party in a secret location I won't reveal here where I got to hang out a little with Kazecat and eat lots of snack and play some CAH for a bit. Other than all that most of the rest of my free time was spent wandering around and filming more con goers =3

Day 3

SUNDAY! Once again we got up early and since we knew where Dream Cafe was we had another delicious breakfast there to start the day. After breakfast I just HAD to make my way to another new attraction that I REALLY hope catches on for future cons, the Furzilla City Stomp. They set aside a large panel room to set up a cardboard city for a bunch of suiters to just stomp on and destroy. It was probably the shortest panel ever (over in about 4 minutes XD) but it was a LOT of fun and once I get a suit I'm DEFINITELY taking part if it sticks around.

After that we decided to hit up the Dealer's Den where pinko got me a cool shot glass with a NES controller engraved on it. I got myself a cool T-Shirt with a tiger and a fox fighting over something, haven't quite figured out what is is yet XD. Also got some new tiger plushes =3. We also hit up the art show and did a "buy now" on some awesome painted feather art with a white and orange tiger together, and also bid on and won an adult piece by seamen.

Sparked by the fun we had playing Texas Hold'em at Casino night pinko and I decided to join the charity poker tournament, mainly because all the money goes to C.A.R.E. and they are pretty awesome and love our con =3. I lasted a good while but I'm terrible at it so I got eliminated kinda early but it was a lot of fun.

Finally we had the closing ceremonies where we got to watch Istanbul and Firr get pied in the face twice each, that was a lot of fun XD. Also found out that this year had even more people than ever and Furry Fiesta just keeps getting bigger :9. We also raised over $18,000 for C.A.R.E. to help feed their kitties for another year.

Day 4

Not much went on today, had another breakfast at Dream Cafe because why would we go anywhere else? Said goodbye to everyone that was still around and started the journey home pretty early.

Overall I this was the most fun I've had at Furry Fiesta since the start. Talked with a lot of people and did a lot of things I hadn't really done before. Plus everyone involved are awesome and really nice and this new hotel it pretty swanky. I already can't wait til next year =3
