On Character Design and Commissions/Trades by Railerat

In case it hasn't become painfully obvious, the primary purpose of my Weasyl account is community participation and character design. I have some sort of strange character-generation machine in my head that produces at least one character a week, complete with story, personality, and many aspects of their social history. I don't know why this happens, or what to do with it exactly, but it's an enjoyable process for me, so I don't really fight it.

Some characters are major, others minor. Some are only major or minor in relation to a different character, but are instead the opposite in their own tales.

Some have long interconnecting stories--or multiple stories--while others are one-offs.

And while some are close to my heart, others just kind of exist. But of course once they've happened, I can't really hit 'undo.' I've tried.

All of them are wholly unique, though--which is helpful for me as a writer, but sometimes kind of exasperating for me as a person.

All of my trades and commissions, at this point in time, are character design-oriented. I continue to be a weenie about uploading any of my writing, even just flash fiction--and to be honest, I don't believe anyone would read my work anyway. I'm familiar with the heavy visual art bias of communities like this one, and that's fine.

This journal is meant to be more of a 'state of the journaler' than anything, so I'm afraid I don't have any clever closing remarks or witticisms for you.

Perhaps next time.

Raile out.
