Why I'm Not An Atheist by Runewuff

(Where I was going with this before my PC died.)

Struggling to find a way to make this short and not some long rant. These are new ideas for me, so I've not had time to organize them into neat little soundbites, and it doesn't help they're not simple.

I've explained my mixed feelings in the previous journals - all my spirituality, all my explanations of what happened that would leave me an atheist again. I can't reconcile the two, so I won't even try. The added wrinkle is, while I once was very plugged in to the words of the Skeptic Community and Atheist Community (in many cases they're one and the same) over time I tuned them out, stopped following them, and my new realization is that was an intuitive decision. I was driven away from their negative energy. Now I have the logic behind it.

I can roughly divide this into 3 Problems with Atheist Subculture:
Atheist Zealots
Science Fanbois
Uber-Skeptics
who form this highly overlapping venn diagram of fail.

In that order, because I can (barely) work out a logical argument here...

The thing is, I love certain parts of the Skeptic Community, the people who debunk fantastic claims, the people who make good videos with logical arguments, they way they're unafraid to critique anything and reach the truth. They help keep my feet on the ground, my beliefs rooted in logic. The thing is, I've also watched parts of the Skeptic Community rot into derrangedness, to the point I found more to learn and grow from some parts of "The Other Side" - neopagans, Wiccans, "New Agers" and hippies. At least the hippies tend to create this uplifting (web)space of everything's going to be alright.
