Pay What you Want Commission. by Procrastinate

I'm thinking of doing Pay what you Want commissions?

but I'm not really sure how to go about doing that, because I'm ASSUMING it's not too smart to do Art for someone without agreeing on a price at the start ha

I"M JUST worried about doing art for someone and then them not paying but I guess I could send them a super watermarked Wip or somethin first.

Huu I usually take payment first THEN Do the work.
          So that can't happen.
O u O I thought most people did that as it was.

maybe give like a price range once you start drawing so the client knows and won't be shocked if the price is like $40+ and yeah watermark the crap out of the sketch and after they pay give them the full ver just to be careful , also I'm with sin I'm very interested in this ; v ; ! however I kinda want to lay here and wait for you to open up ref commissions u v uU but more art from you would be amazing

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA this is excited ; v ; what prices are they going to be or do you know yet

This isnt a bad idea, but try and think of a minimum price you'd accept, so you're not doing more than you should for well... nothing?

Some people see pwyw and tend to exploit it if someone isn't comfortable with pricing themselves.

Yeah I would do a minimum price, also you could also do discount commissions as well.

Sometimes people describe these and give general tiers / examples of what you'd expect to see given paying a certain amount. Essentially the payment should correlate to an amount of time based on an hourly salary, then plus or minus some amount of time depending on how much you like the picture

Would something like a "service" charge be weird? They Pay me for something like 5$ at first, and then when I finish they can pay whatever seems fair to them once I give them the WATERMARKED image?

I think you'll be in a bad spot at the very end. The incentive is to give you just enough so that it doesn't come off as rude - but not a fair price.

I did this a few times, but i set a minimum price to it (not very high, but...you know. So it's not for free)

I was going to have a Minimum price, but was unsure as to what it should be, Thanks for the input.
