Review of 2013 by truckthepolarbear

So, time to review 2013. Well it’s been a bit of a roller coaster of a year with a lot of changes and changes for the good.

At the end of 2012 I set myself a few goals. One was to update Truck, two was to start going to furmeets, three was to attend Confuzzled and four was to change my job.

Apart from going to Confuzzled which was no fault of my own, I smashed through all my goals.

With the help of Nick Wolf, we completely redesigned Truck making him more of a reflection of what I enjoy about the fandom and closer reflection of myself. I really now feel that Truck feels right.

In February of 2013 I went to my first furmeet and that started something amazing. I have meet so many great, kinda and interesting people. It's been a long time since I could say I've felt belonged but now I can. I'm very grateful to everyone that I've gotten to know over the last 12 months. Thank you all. I know there so much more to come. Heck this time last if you told me I would have a fursuit, I would have said your crazy. I can not wait to see what the rest of 2014 will bring.

The other goal that wasn't expecting to happen or to the extent of it was the change in Job. I was working as college lecturer teaching media. I had been doing the job since I left the police force in 2009. It started off as a good and enjoyable job but started going down hill in 2010. The full time contract never appeared, the people I worked with didn't like I was going out and learning new things.

Back in the November of 2012 I helped out at BBC event known as Children in Need. This started the ball rolling on a possible job. I was volunteering once a week and learning the role of a tech op at BBC Hull. Then in April a position came up for a Broadcast Engineer in Leeds came up and I applied for it thinking It would be a good test bed for the Job in Hull I was waiting for to open up. I didn't think I'd get an Interview. Well I was proven wrong and got an interview. Again I didn't think it would go any farther then that. On the 21st of May 2013 my fortunes changed and I landed the job. I moved back to Leeds putting me closer to friends, I now can afford and will be at confuzzled this year.

The job has been a learning cruve for me but I've enjoyed every day I've been at work. I've even been looking after a radio station's engineering on my own.

I feel that I have a lot to look forward, no longer need to to dwell on the past. 2013 has been an amazing year for me, filled with change, new found friendships, hope and wonderful memories.

2014 has already started off well and I hope it will continue.
