Well, I've made a Weasyl by RavenWitchShade

Seen everyone on FA keeps moaning about things and users seem to be jumping ship, I thought I might as well make this active.

Just don't think this is going to be my main. Until this catches up to a point where it matches my FA, it's going to be my secondary. And with well over one and a half submissions on there... yeah ^^;

Well, I've made a Weasyl

There's actually tools out there to help copy over your submissions on FA to Weasyl in an automated fashion. Then again, there's a thing to be said about a site who is coded well enough that it doesn't "need" a so-called flood protection delay when uploading images.

I've tried taking a look, seems I've gotta download a few things to get one gallery importer working.

and you can post stuff without having to wait a minute inbetween?

Yup. I'll admit with all the TF sketch sequences I get as of late, I might simply just upload the sequences only on Weasyl from now on and post just a preview link with the links to the Weasyl pages on my FA gallery.

Not being limited in maximum resolution in a fashion that require a work-around is also a plus.

That's the one thing that's actually annoying me the most - artists putting toned down or incomplete versions of their work onto FA. It's pretty much requiring that people sign up for this site just to view it.

I don't want that to be the reason why I've had to make an account here. No offense to you or any of the other artists doing it.

I understand. But with a workload where everydays I've had to deal with that since sequences of multiple sketch-level images are more common than high level digital painting... if it making a chore of even keeping the gallery up to date when I do not have to deal with such delays anywhere else.

And I can't even put my full resolution images on FA because it limits the resolution at which I can post them without bad effects to the quality of the image if I'm not posting a resized-for-FA image(which is the only place I even -have- to do so on the internet). I know there are work-arounds, but they are only possible in practices due to defficiency in the site's coding and still imperfect since I work with images of 3000 pixels in height which is displayed at it's full size if I produce the work-around.

So in a fashion this isn't even because I want people to go watch my Weasyl instead of FA.... it's just because on a technical level Weasyl's own coding simply make it much easier to keep up to date as a gallery for the least of efforts on my part.

Hence why I normally repost the image. Unless the artist doesn't want the full version put up. And even then I have people complain that at times the image is 'too big' - you just can't win with some people @_@

And I'll take your word for it. I think I'm going to need a bit of help to get off the ground so I can get this gallery importer or gallery multi-post thing working. (Coding was not my strong point. I tried ^^; )

"Image too big" is pretty much the problem with the work-around for image resolution on FA.
At least on Weasyl, the image is automatically scaled down(and very nicely) and if people want to get the full version they can click either the image or "download" to be brought to it for them to save the image or just be able to look at the details. Kinda like Deviantart in a fashion at the end of the day.

I've yet to use the coder tools. You might wish to give www.furaffinity.net/journal/5432351/ by Whitemantis a look since she list many of the tools there.

I'll give the Waxpost thing a try, and I'll see if I can figure out how to get the batch uploader to work too. Thanks for the help

Did they make it so it also works for stories, as well? Weasyl does also use a similar coding to FA when it comes to stories (pdf or .txt only)

That I'm not sure! I'll have to go look into that though. Maybe not sadly but I'd need to asks around. It would be cool if it does.

Yeah, hopefully they get around to doing it. Authors and musicians ALWAYS get the shaft.
