...can fuck right off. I will not use them, and no fucks are given about this "feature". It really does play into the "by artists for artists" faggotry that started this site. I'm going to post my own copies of commissions, and link to the artists.
Don't like it? Eat me.
Note: Don't get me wrong, I love giving credit to the artist. My objection is that my post of my character, idea and content is equal to the artist's post of their talent in drawing it.
I'm being honest. I love giving credit to the artist for any art I get. Every post I make on FA is full of artist pimping (in fact, I requested a feature on the forum that lets you tag the artist when creating a submission). However, I'm not going to participate in a system that basically labels my post as "inferior" or "separate". Those images are just as much mine to post as they are the artist's, and I'm going to do so.
You.. do realize that you are perfectly allowed to post your own stuff, right? And that collections are just a way to spare the annoyance of artist posting and then person having to repost if they so choose? No one is forcing you to use them, at all...
eat you you say..well....heheheh... >:3 but Seriously i get what you're saying flynn, its the only feature so far that i really dont like @.@
I prefer to use the collection system myself, if only because I learned to program on a graphing calculator and that plus OCD leads to wanting to save space in every way possible. And that is the only impression I get from it, a desire to save space. I don't feel it says anything about the commissioner and the artist.
Usually I'm a big fan of practical thinking, but not so much when it comes to personal expression. :)
I can think of some better ways to do it! For example, make it function as a separate submission, just refer back to the original image to avoid duplication.
There are actually a number of inherent problems with that. The artist might post a watermarked version on their gallery, while you posted the clear version. What if they posted a smaller size, but you posted a bigger size? There's a lot of little issues that can lead to.
I think embedded artist tagging on submissions is a way better idea. :)
