Sanctum Polis official CONTEST! by sanctumpolis

Sanctum Polis - Rest Eternal Memory Official Contest and Rules

This contest has two forms of entry and winners will be chosen from both categories separately. Anyone may enter both categories but no individual may win from both. Entering both contest categories only increases your chances of at least winning in one or the other. All contestants are allowed one submission per category but that submission may be replaced or resubmitted so long as it is sent before the final entry date.

All entries must be emailed to Feedback@sanctumpolis.com on or before Sunday February 16, 2014 before 11:59 pm Eastern Time EST (USA & Canada). We will not accept any late entries. No nudity or sexual themes are permissible for entry into this contest. All entries will be judged entirely on creativity and not on artistic talent.

You must describe or show your original character and how they interact with at least one if not more of the students we’ve announced. You can see them in this link

https://www.weasyl.com/submissions/sanctumpolis?folderid=37173

You must also describe or show their house and their uniform (see details below).

Your character may be human or anthropomorphic. If you choose to be a human keep in mind, due to game lore, they are rare, endangered, and generally not well received by the populace or met with confusion as to what they may be. If you choose to create an anthropomorphic character there are some regulations. Due to game lore only wings incapable of flight are allowed.

Dragons and prehistoric animals will be allowed within the game so long as they are anthropomorphic and follow the rules about wings. All characters must be restrained to human proportions and have opposable thumbs.

A “mythical creature” may only be created through a mixed breed such as an Antelope and a Jack Rabbit to create a Jackalope like Kage Andrews. A creature with wings may have patagium much like a Flying Squirrel, small flightless wings, tattooed wings, or feathery hands. Mixed breeds may be allowed (i.e. half cat half dog.) but they both must fall under the same category; Reptile, Avian, Mammal, Aquatic, or Insect. Arachnids fall under the Insect category, aquatic mammals such as dolphins can be used in both Mammal and Aquatic categories, amphibians can be used in both Reptile and Aquatic Categories, and humans can also be mixed with the Mammal category.

Characters may have their own unique coloration but ultimate approval must be given by the Quadrangle Games development team. You are allowed to have tattoos so long as the imagery does not conflict with the game, it’s story, Quadrangle Games as a company, or is offensive in nature. All non-ear piercings for females and all piercings for males must be removed (you may leave the hole) unless you are appearing in a dream world. Characters must identify themselves as either male or female to determine which of the two schools they will attend. Uniforms must be light brown for lower class students and dark brown for seniors and also have the color of their House. All students must bear the Eye of Solaris either as a necklace, on their clothing, as a tattoo, or other form of accessories. The Eye of Solaris is a compass with arrows pointing in each cardinal direction with an eye in the middle representing Solairs’ omnipresence and her relation to the sun. The shorts or skirts must not go above the knees. No cleavage or bare chest may be shown but sleeveless clothing is allowed. Characters may wear sandals or shoes but cannot be barefoot unless their feet are hooves.

If you have any questions about your characters qualification please contact Feedback@sanctumpolis.com.

The winning characters’ pin ups and sprites will be created by the Quadrangle Games development team and altered to best fit the lore and style of the game. We will be in contact with the winners to work out each characters’ significance and dialogue in the game.

Contest Assistance:

Since the contest requires you to know which House your character will be a part of, you can either decide for yourself based off the information we’ve released about the Houses or take our quiz. Link below.

Please get yourself familiarized with the characters and the brief back stories we’ve provided for them as well as the summary of the overall game’s story.

Solaris Notre University is made up of two small castles that are both far removed from civilization. Some technology is present in the castle since it is set in modern day but they pride themselves in their removal from the modern world. One castle is entirely made up of the males students and staff and the other is the female counterpart. Both are generally considered to be separate but equal though the two do come together once a week to praise the Goddess Solaris at the chapel located in the male school. Though this is a religious institution, many of the students are here because they had no where else to go and few are actually there to be ordained in the Solarite tradition. Most of them are just waiting for graduation day so that they can leave.

Solaris Notre University is a private institution funded by Sanctum Polis, the holy city of the followers of Solaris. The school teaches all traditional subjects any other institution might teach but they also tie all their lessons back to the stories and tradition of their religion. Bishop Drexel teaches several history courses, Bishop Suriel teaches math and religious studies, Bishop Konel teaches art and physical education, and Bishop Erethel teaches science. Classes are Monday-Friday and there is a curfew. Saturdays are time off to socialize with your fellow students, relax, and recover from your hard work all week. Sundays are a day for religious ceremony and reflection. This is the day that the female students come from the female school to visit the male school. There is typically a large feast for the entire student body and live entertainment by the school's choir. Students are asked to focus only on their studies during their time at Solaris Notre University, but should you step out of line in any way, the Bishops will force you to help them in the mundane chores that need to be done to maintain the school (be it cleaning the restrooms, helping in the kitchen, etc.). However, some students do volunteer to help since there is little else to do at the castle.

By entering this contest you agree to the following:

You must have the rights to the character(s) submitted in the contest. If the character is not originally made by you (the participating party) you must receive permission from the character’s owner for you to submit them into the contest and have them incorporated into the game. You agree to have your character appear in the game at the developers discretion but are granted final approval to ensure the characters personality and appearance is held intact and to your standards. You also allow Quadrangle Games, Inc. to post or use your submission as a means of promotion for the upcoming game Sanctum Polis - Rest Eternal Memory. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

Category 1:

Write a short story with a maximum of 1,000 words. We are looking for quality not quantity. The theme choices are:

-A journal entry titled “My First Day At Solaris Notre University.”

Or

-Create a dream world from your own imagination and describe how your character (in a school uniform) met a student from Solaris Notre University in that dream.

Category 2:

Draw a fan art including your own character in a school uniform either interacting with or meeting one of the students we’ve announced. They can either be located at Solaris Notre University or a dream world of your own invention.

BEST OF LUCK, EVERYONE!!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In response to a few frequently asked questions:

Q: What if we use more than one of our original characters inside our submission?
A: To clarify only one character may be chosen per category to be introduced into the game. If your submission includes more than one original character and it wins the contest you will have to choose which character you would like to have introduced into the game.

Q: What about Aquatic animals?
A: In regards to Aquatic animals they are anthropomorphic meaning that they have humanoid figures. This means that all animals in the Aquatic and all other categories must have lungs, at least 2 hands with fingers and opposable thumbs, and walk upright (with the exception of handicapped characters). Aquatic creatures may have features such as gills, blow holes, fins, flippers, tails, etc. incorporated in any way you please and will be later discussed and adjusted with the development team to better fit within the game.

Q: What about Insects characters? They do have wings, can we use them to fly?
A: Insect characters may have wings but those would fall under the decorative or flightless wing category. The wings would be incapable of flight due to the weight of the animal in its humanoid form.

Q: How about Magic? Can we use it inside the game?
A: Magic does exist but only within the dream worlds. The "real" world where the school exists does not have magic of any kind.

Q: What about dragons? They are mythical creatures, right? Are we not allowed to use them?
A: Dragons are now allowed under certain restrictions.

Q: Can you explain more about the dream world?
A: The dream world exists in its own plane of existence. It is a dimension forged by the imagination where magic is possible. It's a place where living souls pass through to express their mystic nature uninhibited by the laws of the real world. There are some slots available for denizens of the dream world which is why we've allowed the setting of the contest to possibly take place there. If your character lives solely in the dream world they must either be a dead soul, a memory that has taken consciousness, or a figment of the imagination.

Q: How do we submit the files?
A: All entries must be sent to Feedback@sanctumpolis.com to qualify. Written entries can be posted inside the email or attached as a PDF, .doc, or .docx. Images can be PNG or JPG and must be large enough to be easily discernible but small enough to fit as an email attachment.
