SO. Looks like I'll be here a little more often. by DourGunslinger
It seems that all the drama just keeps getting bigger and bigger at our dear ol' FA, and even a hermit like me who spends most of his time stuck in life can't seem to avoid the results. Now that everyone's got even bigger concerns with scripting issues, on a site that already confusticates me with its scripting issues... I'm just gonna stick a fork in it and focus on submitting crap here. When I have time to draw, anyway... hope to have some sketches for you all soon.

The constant server shutdowns tended to be from people deciding it was easier to just switch servers instead of fixing script, which was pretty annoying on its own. There's been some big turnover of duties to someone that a lot of people don't trust with the job. First he was saying he could handle it way better'n the last, but now he's been on Twitter asking how to do really elementary stuff... so I'm concerned with letting them continue to handle what little art I hock around. It's frustrating because almost my entire watch-base is there, as well as a lot of the artists I hold in high esteem. I don't plan on quitting FA, but I've certainly got to fork out my focus in case something goes south there. S'why I'm gonna be keeping this page a little more active in comparison.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! On the one hand I'm glad I know, but on the other hand maybe it's better that I didn't.
I'm not surprised in the slightest that the FA codebase is a complete mess. FA has not had good luck with coders over the years. It is just really sad that, recently it seems, certain FA staff act like they seek out the WORST person for a job and hand it to them. But, like you said, FA has critical mass for the fanbase so not much is likely to change. What I think (worry?) will happen is that something really bad will happen and enough people will leave FA that another place will get critical mass and take off. Maybe that's good, maybe not. "The Devil you know" and all that, right?

If I can give any advices, I'd basically sum it this way:
Don't abandon FA.... but don't dismiss Weasyl.
Unlike FA, Weasyl has no 60 seconds delays when posting art(very useful when one has to upload a batch of commissions) and doesn't need a workaround to upload most images at full resolution.
On my end, what I basically now do is save every images and commissions in both a resized(for FA) and full resolution format. I upload the fullres to Weasyl, and when I upload the Furaffinity picture I add a small "For the full resolution image, you can follow this link" line on the description of the version of FA. It's a little bit more job, but it's a way of very subtly plugging your account on Weasyl that, officially, FA can't do really anything about because they don't even allow to upload fullres images.

(since most people talk about how they don't have the network of watchers/artist they watch/favs on Weasyl than they do on FA, one of the other thing I told myself is to browse Weasyl a little everydays and find at least one image each day that's not only worth of faving, but also of following the artist themselves, if not even leave a comment.0-
Thanks for the feedback and kudos! As I mentioned to Bill, I don't intend to leave FA. It's where I've posted my art for a few years now, and I've got a lot of connections there. You just fall into a comfortable niche, if you know what I mean. All this has only become a reason to start remembering that I do indeed have a Weasyl.

Scripting issues? I knew about the usual drama, but what scripting issues? Color me just out-of-the-loop on this one. Curious but NOT trying to create drama.
