Midwest Furfest 2014 - The Date Change by DisturbiaWolf

I am hearing some mixed comments about the date change and it's very unfortunate that it's had to come to this, my plan was to ask for 3 weeks off around MWFF this year but it might not be possible given that I'm a retail worker and this date change falls into the beginning of the busy Christmas period... a period which if you all have listened to me ramble about in the past is usually hectic at Christmas. I was also originally planning on going to see some friends too in the USA before the con itself, which I usually do anyway. If it be the case that I am unable to make MWFF, then I won't be able to attend any other US con this year. MWFF is usually the easiest con for me to plan for, flights to Chicago are cheap and the LHR-ORD flight is usually one of the least intense transatlantic flights to do.

If I don't make it for MWFF, I may plan for FC2015 instead.

For me as well, I was hoping to make MFF this year, as I normally have the thanksgiving week free. But with the move into early December, like you it is a very busy time at work for me.

It was unavoidable due to the continuing growth of that convention. Their old time slot simply did not have the rooms available due to other groups, leading to issues with people getting rooms. The con's current contract with the Hyatt is for another year or two, after which they would have the option of switch to another venue.

So the con either has attendee complaints from not getting in the main hotel, or attendee complaints over the date. As a fellow convention organizer, I can empathize with MWFF's dilemma.
