Our home is an old, 1850's old, house. It's also small. The basement is a dirt basement, root cellar really. The ceiling is too low to stand up straight, and did I mention that it's been wet down there for years? Well, this summer we did some work to improve the drainage around the house. The basement is now just damp, not muddy. I spent a couple hours down there today, and put created enough clean space to develop film. I went out and shot a couple 8x10's and tray developed them, in my own (kinda) darkroom. I got my film developed in record time and I got a couple of the prettiest negatives you've ever seen. Rotary processing is fine, but slow. Developing a batch in trays is the way to go.
I'm still limited to developing film after dark, and only when the weather is above freezing but it's a start. Maybe 2014 will not be so bad after all.
