Why I don't (won't) use collections by aeto

I've had this discussion with at least one admin of this site, but it's worth mentioning here...

I'm likely (so long as the original artists are OK with it) going to continue to upload commissions I have done as submissions, not using the collections "feature." Why? Because the collections feature is, IMHO, fundamentally broken.

I'm not an "artist" in the usual sense of the word (I've certainly done costumes and similar stuff, but not "2-D art"). I do commission a lot of art, though, and, in all honesty, I want to show off the art which I've paid for. The "collections" thing ends up in those entries being somewhat "second class" to the submissions, and generally easy missed when people look through incoming entries.

I always link back to the original posting (though I think I may have missed some on the recent bulk upload, but I'll go through and correct those), but until they find a way to let the commissioners as well as artists show off the work, I don't plan to use the collections feature extensively. You probably will see them for some things, like photos of characters, etc..., though.

As an Admin, totally agreed on exactly what you spelled out. By all means go ahead and upload yourself now till we get Collections working like it should.

i too Always link back who made the artwork to give credit to the artist who made the art i commisioned from them.

Collections are kind of a pain. I don't think there's anything wrong with uploading the art yourself.

I think collections would work a little better if not only could you easily access it from the submissinos screen, but if you could submit art DIRECTLY to it. Basically, retool collections to be more a "this is all the art of my character" thing.
