So hey, been a little over a week since Midwest FurFest 2023. Wanted to write down a recap to remind me of things to keep in mind next convention;

1. Food planning, conventions are a terrible time for healthy eating and a regular schedule. Thankfully the convention center had water around everywhere. So that wasn’t an issue. However, supper was very horrible. Trying to coordinate with folks to go out to eat, as well as the convention being rather isolated in terms of close restaurants makes going out to eat a chore. Bring snacks or a pbj sandwich for sure next time when doing artist alley too.

2. Socialization was cumbersome, I sat in artist alley. When I got out at 5:00, it felt like I had little time to talk with friends because they had already in the middle of things. The only time people wound down was late each night, we’re talking 10:00 PM to1:00 AM. Terrible for sleep schedules but the only times where people were free. --- There was an offer to go to the dance, but I am uncomfortable with loud noises. In general, I like am quite simple in my relaxation. If I want to try for more morning times to sit and draw, I should request a panel/room for early morning folks to meet up in. I doubt many will show, but I want to see if they do. Maybe I can bring donuts? We shall see!

3. The artist alley was fun and enjoyable this year. I had an actual display, which I should probably post a picture to share. I put my portfolio in a 4x6 binder so that people could actually browse on the half tables the convention provides the artist. My lunchbox of art supplies also worked wonderfully, containing my commission log as well as keeping my workplace relatively clean. Otherwise, it was fun chat with former commissioners as well as other folks who got to stop by. Now the thing I gotta do is work through the queue I got. Funny enough as I was getting people messaged on Telegram, apparently one person didn’t like my Copy-Paste job, and they reported me for spam. Was blocked from messaging folks for 2 days there.

Anycase, just wanted to get those written down so I remember.
