So what's the etiquette to drawing fan art or art based on dolls from an artist who no longer posts?

Mmmm. Good question. I know that even with adopts that I have gotten and their original creators are no longer around online (that I know of)--I still give them credit for it. I may not give a link anymore, since they aren't active at the location I knew them at..........but I'll sometimes just say when I received the adopt and by whom on what site.

I imagine you can do something similar, if you want. Give the name and credits of the person who created them and say you're doing fanart. It would be like doing fanart of Pokemon or something (you credit Nintendo or GameFreak for that, but don't provide a link), I think........

Thank you I thought so too but wasn't sure

No problem. It's probably what I'd do in any questionable circumstances. Though I don't even notice many people crediting fanart, such as the aforementioned Pokemon, anymore either. I suppose the [social] media world has become different in recent years............

Yeah but most people know who owns Pokemon

True, but...........theoretically, I feel you should still give credit each time you post. But I'm old and come from a different generation, so my ways aren't the same as modern social media etiquette. laughs
