Progress report, coming in hot! by Malachyte

Instead of giving you all a wall of text with the whole "life's story" thing, here's the gist of what I've been working on while I've been quiet this month!

Stream Commissions
I have retired the sketchy flat color commission style I've been doing, with 3 left to do as of this post. SilverFox442, Bencoon and Grawlee, your commissions are on the way, and I thank you for your patience! Estimated completion date is September 6th.

I've been developing a new style of commission to offer, which will allow for more detailed backgrounds and also cel shading! Black and white options are still available. I'll provide more detail when I upload the examples, but basically I'm looking to capture the feeling of slice of life photographs. I think this will be a fun change of pace from the pin up, flat color marathon I've been on!

Streams will not be guaranteed still as it's tough to stream every single one, but I will be doing more streams again come September.

Main Queue/Trello/Commiss.io
I am happy to say that I'm now able to start combing through my huge backlog of a main queue and addressing what's there. The Trello will be reworked to be up to date, and I will be contacting each client one by one to reestablish contact about their orders, and offer a few choices about how they wish to proceed. Options will be to update the commission request and be given a new deadline for completion, offering a refund with a deadline for when you'll receive it, or offering to liquidate the money given and "upcycle" it into the stream commission queue mentioned above. I will post a follow-up journal when that is finished being updated! I cannot say enough how excited I am to be seeing a light at the end of that tunnel, nor can I express the full amount of gratitude I have at everyone's patience.

Side Projects
You may have seen me allude to working 10+ hour days; this is because I have been working in my free time to get more passive income into my future! The more passive income, the more I can focus on tackling my queue, making original art that isn't commission based, and getting back to my Subscribe Star. The things I've been working on developing most are an online book club and on artbooks/image collections!

The book club is planned to be a once per month stream where I read a chapter out loud from one of my older books (all in the public domain). VODs will be available, so if you miss a stream you can easily check back to the VOD and pick it up, podcast-style. The streams will be free, but viewers have the option to donate and meet goals for additional chapters per month, pick up multiple books, or even unlock art bundles with sketches by me of things relevant to the book we're reading. I'm really looking forward to trying this out!

The artbooks/image collections are as simple as that; I want to draw themed sets of art! The one I've always wanted to make for ages is a set featuring all my favorite childhood crushes from that infamous isle of the grocery store - the cereal isle. I love those goofy, toony characters! I'm leaning in to pursuing passions and making that work for me, and it honestly feels really, really good.

I'm also working on a new website for myself, but that's a ways off still.

Art Uploads/Automation
Last but not least, I've been trying to streamline the things I do that surround art, but aren't directly related to drawing. Things like tracking client info and commission details, making written templates for art uploads, and setting realistic goals for myself so I don't go through these repeated cycles of "I'm on top of everything!" and "oh shit, I'm drowning".

I should have all my backlog of art posted in short order, so if you've commissioned me and you're dying to see your post, it's coming soon!

I think that covers everything I needed to say as an update. If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out. I hope you're all doing well, or if you're not, that you're fighting hard and showing your troubles you won't be had so easily.

Here's a song about existential crisis and overcoming the nothingness that I never seem to be able to find a smooth excuse to share so I'm inserting it here. Enjoy!
