So impressive! In my mind’s eye—I see something like the “Bone” omnibus when I picture this in print—it’s going to be a nice heavy tome. :)

      ohhhh yeah
it's gonna be full color and h u g e. i might go with softcover just to cut down on the weight during shipping costs x.x

Yeah, I think you'd have to. Honestly--as someone who works in a Library and fixes books, a paperback omnibus like this would be easier to repair, too. When hardcover books of a similar size break--they're usually too heavy for the glue to hold the spine firmly, they'll break again once the thing is opened (after glueing). Oddly, the way paperback omnibuses are designed and the way the spine is glued--they hold up just a little bit better than their hardcover versions. :)

i didn't know that! this is actually really helpful info because i kept thinking a hardcover would be more durable.

I’m glad to help! I have lots of experience in fixing books and seeing the designs of spines of books of all sizes. Most quality hardcovers have a layer of cardboard, a layer of cheesecloth and another layer of cardboard…….but when the glue deteriorates or breaks, it’s a lot more complicated to repair and the heavier the book, the less likely spine repair will hold. But softcovers are usually just one layer of heavy paper or cardboard against the pages and spine, so there’s less to glue back and more flexibility in repairing them. :)
