Taking personal time by Sunshinegecko31718

My grandma passed away on the 3rd
As such I want to take a step back from social media for a bit
I’ll post art eventually but I need to not be around the internet

Also I love Harry potter, I'm getting my husband into the books and he wants the game, I fought with him for five days about it I won't continue doing that if this upsets you that I won't boycott a video game and ruin my marriage over and issue that is bigger then one writer and one video game then block me if you think this makes me transphobic or homophobic then block me, I'm not those things I'd just rather not fight when the only stake i have in this claim is losing my husband over a video game then I'm not gonna fight anymore

I hope you understand, those who don't don't deserve to be in my social media

I’m of the mind that people are of their own opinions. You can get angry or you can just accept it. I’m not as big a Harry Potter fan as everybody else, so it doesn’t matter to me one way or another—people in the fandom have their own views. Usually people stare at me like I’ve offended them when I say HP is only an “okay” franchise……I’ve read the books and seen the movies, but they’re not particularly in my top ten favorite fandoms. It’s not something I’ve read or watched over and over again and I don’t really care one way or the other about games. chuckle

            We’re still friends, don’t worry. :)

I’ve read better fantasy books with the same themes! XD I’m pretty sure the popularity came from the hype engine around the franchise. While a visual medium brings in a larger fandom (since fewer people read), there’s a lot of difference—so much that was good in the books got left out of the movies, too. Plus—the books were mysteries and those are plotted with clues and necessity everywhere. I think books like that are never treated well in a visual medium……but more people are fans because of the movies. chuckle

                :)

I read the books then saw the movies movie 6 was the worst but movie 5 was better then the book IMHO

But you’ve said you’ve read better books? Please tell me I love book recommendations

For younger/teen readers, Diane Duane has a series called “Young Wizards”—it was out before Harry Potter, but some people claim it’s a ripoff. The first book, I think, is called “So You Want To Be A Wizard?”. Then Diana Wynne Jones has “Howl’s Moving Castle” and the sequel, “House of Many Ways”—she also has a young wizard series that also came before Harry Potter called the “Crestomanci Chronicles”. Jane Yolen has a wonderful young adult fantasy series called “The Pit Dragon Chronicles” (I love this series), but she also has a series about young Merlin, too. If you wanted an animal fantasy series like Erin Hunter’s “Warriors”—Clare Bell’s “Clan Chronicles” (also called the Ratha series) is really good. This series is a bit harder to find, from an Irish author, but I like them better than Harry Potter—Derek Landy’s “Skullduggery Pleasant” series……only the first 3 books were released in English by Scholastic, but I got UK editions for the rest of the original series (9 books and 2 novellas)—there’s also a second series that started up and I’m having a hard time getting those.
