Update on life + DA's situation by INACTIVE-KI
God, it's been a minute. I apologize for the inactivity, but stuff has been happening so fast that I barley have time to settle down.
Starting off with IRL: Things have been getting a lot better. I finally got a good job, something that I actually have interest in. I can't say exactly what job it is due to my privacy, but I will say it involves fixing! So far, my boss has been really impressed and I managed to get my pay doubled. I'm so glad, but that's just one of the first stepping stones. I still got to get a proper bank account set up so I can actually save. I'm really trying to save up for a car or a truck of some sort, really just something to get around while having a big aftermarket support just incase I decide to modify it latter on. I've mostly been looking at Mustangs, Camaros, Civics, Integra's, Caprice's/Impalas, OBS Chevy trucks, 240's or whatever else popular cheep car/truck to tune. Anyways, everything is going well so far!
IbisPaintX on PC: Just found out that IbisPaint has a windows version! Totally caught me off guard, but I’m hype for it! Too bad I sold my desktop, but it probably wouldn’t have been able to run it anyway Lmao. It was a Dell Vostro 220 from 200-08 running windows 10 32 pit XD. Still got my regular laptop and gaming Laptop, so I might get it there and try it out. I’ll write a separate journal about the experience.
DA: Oh my god. First eclipse, then NFTs, now an AI art generator. God, what the hell is wrong with these people. At first they were forcing the AI art generator called "Dream Up" on the site, but luckily the backlash was big enough to get them to add an option to opt out of having your art being used to generate other images. IDK if I really wan to leave DA or not because
1. I still get a decent amount of interaction.
2. I just bought $25 worth of DA points the night before the AI announcement and I already agreed to one person on a commission once they open up.
Also I really don't feel like jumping from art site to art site this much. It's just crazy. Honestly I've been thinking of reopening my FA account, but I still have bad memories of that place. considering that I'm currently working now, I really don't have a lot of time for a bunch of art sites. I might have to just trim them down to a small number eventually. Besides, it's not like I'm taking commissions or anything super major. I'll have to see how stuff pans out.
That's it for this update journal. I do have about two more art pieces in the works for a couple of people on Toyhouse, But after that, I'll mostly be focusing on my own characters in art in the future.

I might just leave once I get rid of those 2000pts. The problem is that the person I wan to commission isn't open yet. They agreed to ping me when they're open, but I really don't know if they know about the situation on DA and wether they'll still want points as payment. I'll go ahead and let them know about it anyway. Honestly I just don't want to be sitting on some potentially useless currency.
Yeah, I still have bad memories about that place too. Probably better off with out it anyways considering it's just more work to manage.
As far as my job, it's going to tone down real quick. I just need to finish up setup and training.

From all I’ve heard, it sounds like DA set itself up for an apocalypse. I hope you’re able to get that commission!

Yeah. I heard it was getting bad, but this AI art thing and having to opt out on every single piece every time is just like……it sounds like they hate artists, really. :/
I can’t even imagine wanting to be on Twitter since he floated the idea of bringing the former President back to it. And paid subscriptions. I suppose it’s just another platform that will allow monetization, hate and bullying in the end……. sigh

They made it to where you can opt out fully in the settings menu. Still it's a possibility that the AI already read through it. I really don't want to make any predictions here, but it seems like DA is scaring off it's userbase and trying to reel in the NFT/Crypto crowd bit by bit.
Ngl, last few years on some of these art sites have gone down quite a bit. Either it's a start up that fails, or on a steady decline.

They want people to use technology, but they also are driving people away...........the business model in every way looks bad. :/
Say what you want about the "quiet" on Weasyl, but it's the more safer of sites that I've been on since I began my art site journey in 2012 (I've been on a few flash-in-the pan new sites, but never felt comfortable there and pretty much abandoned them when my last laptop broke down and I had no passwords! XD)...........and I'm generally afraid of the internet, so I'd never be able to handle what's happening on places like DA and Twitter. @_@

Yeah it does. That's what happens when you let the bean counters run a company.
I'll be honest, I'm starting to prefer more quiet and close nit communities myself. Not too many trolls or toxic people around here. Like I said in this journal, I might just start cutting off some sites that I'm not really using.

Someday, if I ever have more time—I’d like to divide my art into more folders. I began this site with only a handful, but it’s sad to see some folders fill faster because I don’t have anywhere to put them but “miscellaneous”! XD To me, I feel like Weasyl is easy to use—maybe just different from other sites. So I hope people coming here are able to enjoy the site!

And DA's a horrible site I'm glad I left it and FA's owner is toxic AF so I don't miss that site.

Yeah, just gotta save up enough.
I'm probably just going to let DA go after I get my commission from this one user. Honestly I really don't mind dropping a few sites anyway. Hell Twitter is about to crumble too.

I only have this and one other art site left and Twitter's no big loss they let trolls get away with total BS.
One of Twitter's rules is no badmouthing other religions but yet it gets allowed if it's the Christian God.

I’m not sure how safe DA will remain with the decisions they’re making, but be careful if you remain on the site!!!
FA, though……I still have no interest going back there, myself. I had some bad experiences (bullying) there. But from what I hear lately it’s gotten bad over there in a more……..political way. So, I don’t know how safe it will be back there, either.
Hopefully your life will settle down with your new job and you’ll have a little time to relax and think about what you want to do on the art sites. :)
