Music for the Day

I have confirmation on when everyone in this house is moving. Friday, April 15, is the starting date. We will be getting to the rental place in Arkansas on Sunday, April 17. We have already moved one of the big wooden boxes and wood cutting tools into the trailer, so that’s one of the heaviest jobs done.

I’ll be honest. Even after having a few extra weeks on this move, I’m still stressed out over it. It’ll be a completely different place than what I’m used to. Not to mention colder since it snows and, as someone who has lived in a desert until that point, it’s very different. Still, I’ll deal with it.

Already, the new homeowners have made multiple changes to the house, specifically the backyard. Much of the ground and grass have been uprooted, making it like a mini-dust storm. The wooden and chain-link fences are also removed, with the stone underneath them ripped off the ground. Soon, they’ll put up a new stone wall, put in fake grass, and set up gravel stones around it. Not to mention finally replaced that leaky pipe there.

It’s different, looking outside, I mean. So much has changed, even before you consider the renovations. There were a pair of massive shrubberies, one with purplish flowers and the other with orange buds, which died out as the years went by. There were also a bunch of grape plants on the chain-link fence, a peach tree that lasted a few years, and an early attempt at a veggie garden on the right side of the house. I remember a mini playground set back there, and when it broke, it was replaced by a giant trampoline. So much fun, hopping on that trampoline up until I became an adult, though I doubt that anyone would think of using a golf club while jumping on it safe, even if I was the only one there.

Where has all that time gone? Regardless, it’s best not to reminisce too much about the past. Instead, it’s best to keep moving forward.
