How long in the fandom?
I've been in the fandom since around 1995 - back in the days when 14.4kbps dial-up internet was considered blisteringly fast, and a 1Mb dedicated internet link to your house was a fantasy (as opposed to today where it would be considered backward and cruddy). And when "Avatar" was THE furry art repository, and not a movie made by James Cameron...

How did I find the fandom?
"I found it on the Internet."
No, really. Though I suppose I was led to the Usenet group alt.fan.furry through the letter columns of the comics "Omaha The Cat Dancer", "Tank Vixens", and "Furrlough", which was how I discovered furry art and comics in the first place back in the mid 90's. Then it was into getting fanzines like "YARF!", "Anthropomorphine", and eventually becoming a contributor to "South Fur Lands"...

How did I choose my fursona species?
I blame rjpartrop Richard Bartrop and his character "Pi" from the comic series "Zaibatsu Tears" for making foxes look utterly cool :-)

Why/how did you choose your fursona name?
For some reason, I thought back then a furry pun on the UK "gentleman's mag" Mayfair would make a good fursona name. shrug
Since then, it's been retconned into "Mayuandi" for my actual fursona, but I've kept "Mayfurr" for fandom use as I'm kinda known for it by now in fandom (such as I am known, har har - world famous in Paraparaumu, that's me) and it has the added bonus of being somewhat more unique than my RL name when it comes to user IDs and email addresses.

If you had to change your species, what would you choose?
Probably a breed of dog. Most likely a Sheltie, seeing as we've owned Shelties for 19-odd years.

What percentage of your friends are furries?
"What is this concept of 'friends' that you speak of?" grin
Seriously though, probably about half of my friends - and the vast majority of my online friends - are furries, spread out across the globe. Mostly waaaay out of my own timezone, weirdly enough. Hmmm...

If you've been, favorite furry con, and why?
Hmmm... I'd have to say Eurofurence 7 in 2001 was my favourite "traditional" con, on account of it being the only US-style con with art shows, dealer's dens etc that I've actually been to. All the other cons I've been to in Europe, the UK, and New Zealand have ranged from housecons (Yateley, UK) to furmeets (London Furs, UK) to somewhat informal relax-a-cons like Furconz (NZ) and Memphit Mini-Con (Germany).
It must be some kind of distinction: being an NZ furry who has been to multiple European furry conventions on the other side of the planet but never a US one (despite the US being "merely" across the Pacific) or an Australian con a "mere" 2000km away.

Got a fursuit? If no, why?
I don't have a fursuit because I don't have the skills to make one, nor the disposable cash to buy a completed suit. I do have a partner, a mortgage, and three Shetland Sheepdogs to support, y'know... :-)

Are you open about being a furry, i.e., if it comes up in conversation?
It depends upon the situation. At a sci-fi convention or at something like "Armageddon", yeah I'm somewhat open about it - especially if I'm wearing one of my (increasingly-aging) furry T-shirts.
But at work or in general conversation with non-fannish "mundanes"? Not specifically, and I do tend to be selective. I do say I'm into digital comic/cartoon art and sci-fi/fantasy writing, and I might show them selected examples of the type of things I draw, but until I know more about them and can trust them I tend to paint the fandom as an "online art community" - which isn't exactly wrong, is it? :-)
As for family - that's basically a hard "nope". Aside from possibly a couple of my cousins, who are into goth culture anyway and who wouldn't see "furries" as being particularly strange.

Straight - though lately I have gained more of an 'appreciation' of M/M furry art than I used to.
