Let's talk about summer! by Malachyte

It's almost July, unbelievable! I've been keeping real busy trying to manage my queue while making extra money to cover extra life expenses. Bit by bit I'm getting back on track. Thank you all again for being patient with me during commissions, it really does mean the world to me. As always, if you want to check a commission's progress I keep detailed checklists on Trello, which I update daily. Getting sick is expensive, please take care of your bodies, everybody (# ̄ω ̄)

Jelly, my cat, is doing well! The vet has stated that operating on his leg to remove the lump is simply not a good idea, and monitoring it is the best course of action for the foreseeable future. I've been taking pictures of it regularly, to help monitor the size, and have been watching his gait to see if it troubles him. He favors the leg very slightly, but it doesn't seem to hurt him, even if I move his leg myself or gently touch the lump. We are both making sure to stay nice and cool, and I brush him daily to get all the extra fur I can off his little body.

So! Updates aside, I was wondering about summer things. What kind of things make you think, "Ahhh, it's summer for sure." to yourself? Obvious things are swimming and popsicles, of course. For me, it's cold food! I save up all sorts of recipes for food that's meant to be enjoyed cold, and when I finally break those out I get so excited. Sandwiches to take on outdoor walks, or cold soba noodles with tsuyu sauce for dipping, or just cut up fruits arranged prettily on a plate. I also lucked in to a free ice cream maker, so I've been trying out recipes in that and it's been awesome~

I'll end with a hot weather tip that I don't think I'd survive summer without; damp washcloths that you put in the freezer. I keep two in there, and rotate them out, so I always have a super cold cloth to tuck behind my back while I sit at my computer. You'll get a little damp, but it's totally worth it.
