SEASON 9 DRAFT

The Season 9 FHL Draft will begin on Halloween, Saturday October 31st, at 6:30pm Eastern Time, and will follow the standard round and pick pattern in what will likely be a week long event.

SEASON 9 SEASON LENGTH CHANGE

Due to concerns over season length and how it has impacted the off-season, the Commission has reviewed the last two seasons to determine what can be done to alleviate the off-season crunch experienced by the Commission. After extensive review and discussion, it has been determined that the Season 9 Regular Season will be reduced from 50 Games to 38 Games. The primary reasons for this reduction are several fold and include, but are not limited to; the low number of active Simmers, the increased number of games needing to be simulated caused by the addition of two expansion teams, and the length of time both Season 7 and Season 8 extended into during the postseason. Season 9’s schedule maintains the structure of the previous two seasons by focusing on Conference and Divisional Rivalries but comes with a significant reduction of games played between the Western and Eastern Conferences.

S9 PLAYMAKER CHANGE

There have been concerns that the FHL assist rates have been lower than the NHL average due to the high number of unassisted goals given in simulations. After some deliberation, the Commission has decided to make an adjustment to the Playmaker buff that will affect all players between 8-12 points. In order to prevent issues with an increase in Team Playmaker, it has been decided that the playmaker modifier will be reduced to ¾ the difference between teams. With this, the buff should increase assist rates and make unassisted goals less common while keeping Playmaker as a buff as seen in previous seasons.
