Notice: Raising price on select commissions at end of August by Sparkyopteryx

After a few months of evaluating and re-evaluating my creative process and how I work, along with how long it takes versus productive output, it is with certainty that I must announce raising my commission prices for some things I offer. Now, before anyone jumps to conclusions, it will not be a terribly big price hike ( we're talking only about a $2 to $8 price difference here, depending on type), and as the title suggests, only for certain types of commissions. For example, my Celtic-style commission rates will remain the same, as I find those to be pretty fair prices. To completely elucidate what exactly I'm changing, here is a list for those wondering:

~Rates on my detailed graphite work, especially those regarding pieces with full backgrounds.

~Rates on some of my colored work, mainly the full color pieces.

I'm also tweaking other things, such as the rate for certain types of colored media, for example my marker pieces will not have the same price as say, my colored pencil pieces.

Regarding commissions that are already in progress or bought and paid for: NONE of these changes are retroactive for commissions that I'm working on this month! So to all of my current clients; you don't have to worry about this!

Regarding any additional commissions bought this month in August: Just like the ones already in progress, these will not be the asking price yet. So, effectively this means that if you want something from me at my current and slightly lower price, August is the perfect time to get it. Because once October rolls around, these new base rates will be in effect. This means paid in August by the way, not finished in August (because that would be mean).

I'm giving everyone a heads-up and a chance to commission me beforehand because I believe it's fair. Fair for any current clients and fair for future ones. How would you like it if you're shopping around for an artist, like their prices, come back two days later and the rate is mysteriously higher than what was listed, with no warning whatsoever? Probably a little miffed. This doesn't mean I'm less flexible with what you want either; I can easily work inside most all budgets. All you have to do is ask!

Final note: I'm not raising my prices because I want to gouge people out of their money. I'm changing because I think it's more than fair and reasonable, especially considering the work I put into it. Compared to normal industry standards, I'm charging a pittance. I don't want to see arguments on my journal about it please; I know you guys are well above that! This is my decision, so please respect that.

Thanks to all you lovely people for your time,

~C.M.H.
