A Long-Overdue Return, Updates, and Questions by Joat

I will try to keep each individual point relatively brief, since there is a lot to cover.

The Return

First off, sorry for vanishing for so long. There are several reasons: Finally getting a job, stress from turning 30, various interpersonal things, and similar factors which made me feel a bit, well... lazy... toward the account. That said, though there are several reasons, there are no excuses. Time to finally get back to this.

Also, I need to get to finally uploading my backlog soon. I have a fair bit made that I haven't submitted yet.

Let's Plays?

One key question is this: What direction should I go? Some people are here for the stories, and others are here for the Let's Plays. Admittedly, my stories as of late seem to be way more popular than my LPs. So, my two questions to those paying attention are this:

  • Should I continue my LP work? Keep in mind that if I do, that will mean less frequent stories.
  • If I do continue LP work, should I have that in a separate account? Or perhaps have the stories on DA/Weasyl and have the LPs exclusively on lp.zone?

Requests, Trades, Commissions

Things have actually been this way for a while behind the scenes, but finally time to elaborate in a journal how I do these things. Note that some of this may contradict how I used to do things:

The Basics

A1) I do not do NSFW (I'd likely be rubbish at it anyway) and do not often write stories with canon characters (and even then, only when I feel reasonably sure I can write them properly). And overall, if something makes me uncomfortable to do, I am less likely to do it (that said, I tend to be a bit more lax with trades and commissions).
A2) There is a limit of three requests/trades/commissions (total, not each) per person. I will establish a limited queue later on as needed, but for now I won't have a hard limit on how many total I have of each thing.
A3) Commissions take priority over trades, which take priority over requests (but see D1).
A4) I have the right to refuse requests, trades, or commissions, obviously.
A5) Similarly, I may sometimes break C2 and (less often) A3 if I want to.
A6) I should reiterate: No NSFW. While I may be flexible on some other list items, NSFW is a hard no.

Commissions and Trades

B1) I may adjust the minimum price depending on complexity and how uncomfortable something may make me feel (usually I just outright decline some things, but if it's on the edge I may just raise the minimum price instead), but overall my prices are typically pay-what-you-want with a minimum of: $1 for 16x16 pixel art, $2 for larger pixel art, $4 for fake screenshots, $3 for especially simple vector art, $6 for more complex vector art, and $5 for stories. If anyone wishes to commissions a Let's Play, well... those can take a LONG time to complete and will likely be charged for on a per-part basis or the like.
B2) If I do accept a trade or commission, unless I have particular reason to believe that the other person is sufficiently trustworthy, I require payment in advance.
B3) And don't worry: If I do get ripped off, I don't plan on doing something like removing the piece in question or the like. At that point, the culprit already has it stored away somewhere, and all I'd be doing by removing the piece is removing access from everyone else. Basically, I'd be punishing everyone except the guilty party. Not a good plan.

Requests

C1) I only accept requests for stories. Everything else is trade/commission only.
C2) When it comes to requests, which one I do is chosen randomly. More specifically, I randomly choose whose request to make. In other words, submitting multiple requests will not increase your odds of being chosen to get a request (MOST of the time, but see D1).

Private Writing "Streams"

There is a writer who sometimes has writing "streams" on a Google Document, linked on their Discord server. When they do (and it's not an NSFW one), I typically join them. I won't specify who this writer is because I worry that if I do, that writer's Discord may end up being crowded with people who aren't interested in the writer it's about and are only in it for my contributions to the streams. In any case, I bring up same "streams" because:
D1) When I participate in a writing "stream", I will have specific themes noted for that stream. Writings that match the theme will be prioritized heavily over non-theme writings. For example, a theme request would be chosen over a non-theme commission.

I get the feeling I forgot something in those rules. If so, oops. I'll correct it when I become aware of it.
