I went to College by Vosyl

This is a follow-up from my last entry: https://www.weasyl.com/journal/142495/going-back-to-college

I passed a number of classes but not with sufficient credits to make it to the next HND. I am slightly upset but I have my contigency plans for what to do now. The pandemic was a factor. The bigger factor was various grievances my class raised with our representives had with how the class was structured and how the material was delivered was another. We were largely left to our own devices after given the brief for each class and told we would be doing one class exclusively, one after the other. That turned out to be a lie. We would be working on one class per tutor at a time, with three deadlines each week.

I also think the whole me living alone in the countryside played against me. I'm entirely responsible for myself and my well-being. This means I have to balance coursework with my weekly chores, the grocery shopping and cooking and washing-up, making sure the laundry is done, hygiene and fitness. It's been a trial of time management this past year and I've learnt a lot about how I operate day-to-day. I am entirely glad college is over given how its affected me, and how much I had to give up to pass the classes I did. I'm just coming to terms that I'm once more free to spend the day as I please. I went out for a walk earlier, made time to have one of those self-care baths the internet recommends, listen to new music. Day has been fantastic.

Despite failing to get the qualification I wanted out of the course. I've learnt a fair amount in terms of drawing from observation, important ways to look at context with contemporary artists, using mixed media, understanding the difference between the 'technical' process of art versus the 'creative' process, and managing and documenting larger more on-going art projects. I had to manage a five-week project exploring the local lighthouse and doing a series of experimental painting before producing a large final piece. I'm eager to put what I did glean from the course into practice for the internet furry art thing I've got going on.

Speaking of Patreon in my last entry. I did release a small number of "Art Packs" before realizing I had too little time for personal art. So I bundled everything up in one larger pack that included everything I had been working on for the past three years at that point. Its over on Furaffinity: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35766611/

Most of it is just WIPs, some are confusing, a number are 'my pain thing' I got a reputation for. I hope you see something you like.
