Weasyl Journal Entry (February 16, 2020) by Jordan Erwin

I prefer old fashioned video games than playing a new addictive video game that I don’t have time to play new games because it’s a waste of time for me.

When I was 6 or 7 years old in the late 1990s and early 2000s; I’ve got my 1st video game console which is PlayStation 1 console from my old friend of my parents who was a current video game addict when I was growing up. I’ve played whatever time I want to play but not 24 hours like today’s video gamers; I’ve have school to attend at the time.

When I was 8 or 9 years old at my paternal grandparents’ home which is next door to my 2nd home that I’ve moved here (currently) since 2001; my mamaw have Sega Dreamcast console that she got on thrift sale (I think) and me and my 2 paternal cousins (my dad’s sister’s sons) played that console every weekends when my aunt and uncle were on a trip that my mamaw babysits us when I was in her house spend the night along with watching Toon Disney channel and sometimes Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon when it’s on TV. Ah, those were the days.

My 1st favorite video game series were Spyro the Dragon (the 1st ones) while I was playing on PlayStation 1 console; and then when I was in the 5th grade; my former classmate has a PlayStation 2 console that we play video games during “Free Friday” every Fridays with no school work during afternoons I’ve play the 1st and 2nd Spyro video game series; one is “Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!” for which my former elementary school classmate have the full version as well as the 1st Spyro the Dragon along with “Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage”.

My 2nd favorite video game was Rayman franchise in which I play the 2nd Rayman series was “Rayman 2: The Great Escape” for which I’ve play mostly on the Sega Dreamcast console when I was growing up.

Now I’m no longer playing video games; not it used to be when I was a kid; that I’ve grow out of it that some grown-ups were give up playing video games that some of them think it’s for kids and teenagers. And I don’t have time to play new video games. But I’m never too old to watch all kinds of cartoon series especially educational ones on the Nick Jr. Channel and PBS Kids block on the PBS channel. I’m sorry that I’m not a video game person not it used to be before Chris Chan took over the video games scenario; that’s why I’m not playing video games that most things are too “addictive” and a “bad winner” if you know what I mean exactly.

So hope you understand this whole Weasyl journal entry this Sunday evening. Hope you grew up playing old video games back in the late 1990s and early 2000s especially the 1st PlayStation as well as Sega and Nintendo consoles long before new consoles were even existed yet. Have a good weekend.
