End of the Month / Year Post - December 2019 by Blokfort

Looking back at all the art work and projects I've completed this year makes me feel pretty good about myself. Sketches are pretty fun to do now, clean line art is decent (and as of writing this, want to experiment on an even thinner line art brush, heh.) I feel like I've handled commissions and deadlines pretty well too, except for recently I've just been super tired for seemingly no reason. Closer to the end of this month, I decided to stop accepting commissions because I felt like I had too much going on, and wasn't using my time very well. I also felt like I didn't want my tiredness to affect the commissions in a negative way. Of course, as I write that out, I'm actually not too sure what that means or how it would have. Sometimes I wonder if I'm actually tired or if I'm just being lazy. I'm definitely better now than I was then however.

Sorry, lots of rambling.

I've started up the weekly voting thing again (NSFW), because I feel like it's a nice way to keep me actively doing something, expands ideas a bit, and I feel like it gives me a bit more interaction with people when I'm not, in general, a very interactive person. I'm also trying to put more effort into the Patreon stuff, though admittedly I still don't have too much to offer on it. I Haven't worked on anything comic related because I'm honestly at odds with it. It's a frame-by-frame type of comic, where each page is just one simple picture of the scene. I feel like I should have just done a traditional comic set-up and not waste time with the format I've chosen for it. "Oh well," is the ultimate answer I guess, as I still plan to finish it. Plus it'll be nice to have some actual content on the Comics page. I won't set a deadline for myself on that sort of thing just yet though.

Unrelated to art, I've started playing Risk of Rain 2, and I also got the Master Chief Collection for Halo. The campaign for Halo: Reach was laughable in many places, but I am at least enjoying the online and some single player challenges it provides. Risk of Rain 2 is a very enjoyable game, providing a few unique characters, each with their own playstyles, and many many many many possible power-ups in the levels that changes it even further. It's a pretty easy-to-get-into game.

So, I guess planning for the next year... I'm just going to bullet-point it.

  • Smaller traditional comics of whatever idea(s) I have at the time.
    - Continue weekly voted sketches for as long as I can.
    - Organize Patreon some more, get more content on there.
    - Get back to opening Commissions (and to get back to certain people about that.)
    - Continue with knocking out the projects listed on my Trello page.
    - Try for a simple placement sketch pose/scene thing everyday. EVERY. DAY.
