Sharing because its super sad, but also to help reach out to people, especially anyone who was a victim of youtube's shit fuckery so they can reach out to mark right now about this.
Yo, it's become increasingly more terrifying to even think about posting on youtube and using it because of how messed up their system is. I was devastated years ago the first time they decided to change their monetization policy after i just reached it (the first time) and now couldn't ever. ANd the just got more twisted further. gosh darn youtube will suspend your account for using other livestream or video services. :u
The same thing happened to me two years ago. I finally got my channel monetized, earned nothing from ad revenue, and then got it taken away from me 2 weeks later because of their last ToS changes deciding that small creators don't deserve monetization. I'm middle class so I thought it would have been nice to use some of that money to help pay the bills since nobody cares about my Patreon, due to my channel being that quiet (I made a new one to get a fresh start). And now they're planning to ban people that aren't making THEM or THEIR platform any money. Jeez, it's like the little creators never get a break!
with that kind of policy, it'd be impossible to even start on Youtube. Was stupid as ever like the stunt they tried to pull with the Youtube Checkmark last month. "You can't get a checkmark for the youtube community unless you are established on other, non-youtube communities" thing they tried to do. What the heck is with that? People can't be a verified youtube creator unless they are successful off site? Glad the community last month frikken bit at youtube real hard. They're really trying to get rid of any "newbie" users as of recent. It's nasty.
It really is. At this point, I'm planning to use alternatives like YouTube, just in case they shoot me down. I really with the site didn't go downhill like this, or at all. It used to be for fun, now creativity is only worth something if it's done for money.
I am curious what alternatives to YouTube are out there. I know about DailyMotion and Vimeo, but I'm not sure which one the art community tends to use.
Unfortunately, YouTube's been going downhill for years. It started when YouTube got sold to Google and progressively got worse. I'm hoping alternative video sites start picking up traffic, YouTube has been abusing their userbase for years and years.

Honestly, YouTube is starting to become worse and worse as the years go by. I'm starting to worry if we'll start hearing of YouTube losing traffic for the first time ever, because people got sick of things like this happening.
