lol glastonbury by Donro

well not sure if anyone bar the english know about the english music festival "Glastonbury".. well basically every year a bunch of rich middleclass / uppermiddleclass posers go to a field in england and stand completely still, bereft of interest and knowledge for bands they hardly know because the headliners are pushing 50+ years in the business.

The whole legend about glastonbury is drugs, fun and music.. yet there are barely any drugs anymore because the people there think "hard tea" is risky enough, the fun aspect might still be there if you enjoy looking at white paint on a wall and the music has gotten progressively worse.. throw in eminem, awful uk indie pop band or a headliner nobody there will know.

Last year I believe it was springsteen, queue 100k people in a field waiting for one song they kind of know.. this year was the rolling stones who where absolutely awful.. I mean jesus they where bad, jagger ambled around and mumbled and twitched as the rest of them played out of sync and painfully bad a as whole.. so the english media come out and say "that was dissapointing".. NOPE "greatest rock and roll set ever, best live set from a band ever"... Sorry but when led zep did that one off show at the O2 arena a few years back it was far better and they where still pretty bad considering their age.. age isn't an excuse if you're still expecting people to pay to watch you should perform.

Now the biggest arsepain about this thing, the BBC... They spend like 14 mil over 3 days flooding the internet, radio and TV with coverage of this festival.. basically taking away from the fact people who pay the excessive amount for tickets now are basically having what should be a unique experience stolen because people can watch it ALL on tv.. Lucky them right?

Now the thatcherite tax evading cunts that are the rolling stones demanded only 7 songs be shown so the people with a ticket could experience something else.. then you realise they're a "big" band as such..what about the fan they have who couldn't get there.. a slap in the face to get a better ticket profit share mr jagger?

This isn't so much an attack on music I don't like but more so me saying why this festival is pathetic.. The past 3 years i've decided to go to festivals, 2011 I went to sonisphere and saw the big 4 of thrash and was in a field for 7 hours straight.. yeah seven hours and my legs died as did my body but was it worth it? YES.. the people where fantastic as was the atmosphere and most of the bands there where right up my street, eg motorhead, mastodon, opeth etc.

2012 me and my friends went to download which I was a bit suspect about as its filled with scene kids and poser metalhead kids, I paid to see sabbath and metallica and the prodigy, all of which were sublimely good headliners as where my fave band megadeth and many of my other fave bands!

This year we went back, me for maiden and rammstein and my friends for slipknot.. Rammstein where immense arguably the best live act i've ever seen, just godly good. Next year we want to go to wacken.. What made me laugh is, me and the other tens of thousands who went to donnington this year saw bands and performances not many others will see, something unique (only highlights on sky arts) and it was 250 quid for 5 days camping.. Compare that to the mainstream indie pop kids who pay 300 for 3 days for subpar acts and to have what should be a special occasion ruined by the BBC's need to be cool and down with the kids..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_WOr3BT75pk - 30 seconds in "no I was like 11" made me howl laughing, stop trying so hard BBC!
