The trip to Anthrocon begins a week from tomorrow. I'm so excited.

I've been wanting to do a cross-country road-trip for a long time now. I was a passenger on the ride from Illinois to California when I was a kid, first with my family in our van from the Chicago area to Iowa, where the van's transmission died, and we split up from there. My older brother, stepsister, and myself went on a Greyhound bus while my parents and younger brother went on a U-haul truck and towed the van.

This time, it'll be me doing all the driving. My wife and I will be leaving Oregon on the 30th, and arriving in Kentucky on the night of the 3rd to pick up my friend Dusty, and from there we go to Ohio to get Icey and her mate Dev, and make the final stretch to Pittsburgh.

For the last few weeks it still seemed like a faraway dream. It still wasn't sinking in that we're actually going. But now, with barely a week left to go, it's time to make all the final preparations!
