Freed of Twitter, addressing depression, VR content by Mircea

There are some interesting and relevant updates to post about this month. To start off, I'm finally free! Free of Twitter that is: After two years of using the platform on a daily basis, I managed to say something that got their team to be rid of me. What it was I do not know, as they didn't bother notifying me by email or even clarifying whether it's permanent, I simply see an error saying "your account is suspended" when trying to preform any action. I never make threats or cross the line even when push comes to shove, but have been involved in a lot (and I do mean a lot) of increasingly extreme arguments over social and political issues there... presumably something I said was deemed too mean for the modern internet. I'm not as upset as I could be, since this is my chance to finally distance myself from all the hate and drama and conflict, I can focus on what I enjoy while taking a much needed break from the world's evil. I only feel bad that I can no longer be there to speak my mind and defend people's rights in an increasingly mad world, but others will carry on the battles I had the pleasure to be a part of for so long.

With that out of the way, I just returned from my first meeting with a therapist. He agreed to prescribe me a set of anti-depression pills, which I'm hoping will help with the way I've been feeling for the past 15 years. The hope, as I'm assuming at least, is that the medication prescribed can alleviate my brain's anxiety and habit of being in permanent alertness, developed over years of feeling that everyone's out to have my head on a platter unless I bow to their ideology. I'd rather not discuss the prescription itself here, as I don't want to accidentally wander into a medical domain that's considered risky and break some obscure rule on any site I'm cross-posting this to... we live in a time where any word out of place can cause trouble and I must try to predict any possibility.

In news more relevant to my content, I now have a VR headset! More specifically the cheapest one on the planet from the looks of it: The 1080p version of the VR-Tek by Direkt-Tek, available at the shocking price of just 30$. Sadly it's only sold by Walmart and I'm not even from America, but luckily there is Ebay. It took quite a bit of fiddling and hacking to get it working as a standard display under Linux / X11, and needless to say I can't use the head tracking for anything, but I'm at least able to watch stereoscopic photos and videos as well as play games with side-by-side stereoscopy (currently this only includes Xonotic). That means I can also develop such content now! I'm already on the case and working on a few VR compatible projects; They will take a while and the first will likely be available next year, but I'm definitely planning to have some VR stuff to post here eventually.
