Abominable - movie review by JohnStripedfur

Dreamworks has this very interesting track record in their animated movies. It's a mix of great movies to mediocre to bad. I am a Dreamworks fan, but even I know that Dreamworks doesn't hold much to Disney or Pixar in some regards. But, at least they have potential of creating good animated movies when they put their mind to it. So, when I saw the trailer for this movie, I was thinking, "Finally, a potentially great original movie from Dreamworks since Kung Fu Panda." Even though the jokes seem lame, but the animation looked really good. Hoping that those are the only jokes out there and the rest will be magical.

The movie wasn't exactly what I thought it was. It's better than I expected, but it just doesn't quite get there. You know that feeling. That you can tell this can be a great animated movie, but it hasn't reached it. The jokes are pretty much either out of date or just for the little kids. But, there were a lot of somber and drama moments that make me go, "Oh! Ok. I like it." While the jokes were like, "Ugh." The animation though was top notch. Especially during the magical scenes. Shows that Dreamworks does have what it takes to compete against Disney and Pixar.

Overall, if you have kids and got nothing else to do. You can go see it and you won't dislike it. Other than that, a rental at best.
