Hey guys! It's been a while since I've last posted an update journal. But, seeing as it's the end of the year, I thought it would be nice to give an update on some things that have changed over the last few months and also talk about some upcoming plans for the new year.
First of all, my comic series has been on a bit of a hiatus. There's a few reasons, but the biggest one is that I've burned myself out. I will continue with the series, but I will no longer be hosting on SmackJeeves. All pages will be posted here. I'll be posting an announcement on there shortly. I do intend on picking up it up again in the near year, so keep your eyes open!
Next up, I haven't been using my computer much this year at all. Our internet has been up and down since about March when our old landlords sold the house. The new landlords let us use wifi, but my computer doesn't have the best connection through wifi. Everything else is okay-ish, though. I'm actually surprised I have connection right now (knock on wood).
Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because I'm actually doing quite a bit of art on my iPad. I bought ProCreate and I absolutely love it! I will continue to do art on other programs I have installed, but it may be a bit of time before I start using my computer again.
I tried out Patreon earlier this year (as you may have noticed). I gave it a shot and ended up overworking myself and burning out because of the stress. The stress was from a few different things. See, around the same time I started Patreon, I lost my job because the company I worked for foreclosed. I did get hired on at the company who bought assets from the company I worked for, but when I got hired, my schedule changed. Rather than working 8 - 4:30, I started working 11:30 - 8. This wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the fact that I was still going to bed around 9 to get up early to take Kinka to work. I was literally coming home from work, eating dinner, going to bed, then getting up to take Kinka to work. I had an hour to myself before I had to be at work myself. When the weekends rolled around, I got overwhelmed by the amount of cleaning I needed to get done and spent most of the weekends doing just that.
The good news is my schedule did change not too long ago! I am back to 8 - 4:30. Of course, this happened right before the holidays which has kept me busy as well. But now that we're getting through everything, I'm hoping to pick up art and comic pages again soon.
So that's been my year in a nutshell. I'ts crazy how quickly it's gone by. It seems like only a couple months ago I was doing coaching calls for a living. Now I'm back to customer support.
For 2019, I have a few things planned outside of art. I really want to try to new hobbies and find something I can really enjoy. Originally, Kinka and I were planning to do a let's play channel. Hopefully, once things settle down, we can finish editing videos and get some more recordings done. I have a new program I got for Christmas that I'm really excited to try out! In addition to the games, I also have plans to start my own fursuit channel. I used to do a bit of video editing back in High School and it was pretty enjoyable. So I'd like to give it another shot in my free time.
April 1st, Kinka and I will be moving again. My dad is getting remarried near the end of March, and when he does, we're moving into this house. This should hopefully be the last time we move for awhile. But going back means that we will have better internet.
A couple of goals I have for the new year:
These are my two biggest ones. In the past, I've only written down my goals. But now, I am coming up with a plan to actually achieve these! I'm determined to make 2019 a good year.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for all of the support you guys have given me over the years! Happy New Years!
