Robin Hood (2018) - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I've been a fan of the story and character of Robin Hood since I can remember. I've seen most of the movies based on him and his character and read even Ivanhoe that featured him. I love the Disney animated one (obviously :P), think Robin Hood: Men in Tights is a great parody, and enjoyed Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Though, I didn't like the one with Russell Crowe in it and directed by Ridely Scott, so when I heard that they're making another one and it stars Taron Edgerton and Jamie Foxx. I wasn't so sure. But, I'm always up for a Robin Hood movie so I'm willing to give this a chance. It looked fun.

This movie....isn't so good. I did liked the action scenes and it has an interesting twist to the typical tale of Robin Hood. But, it's overshadowed by the style, sets, and the clothing the movie has. It's almost like it's trying to be modern while still being in the 13th century. I wasn't sure it it's trying to be more modern or still try to tell the classic tale. If they really want the movie to be more modern, then they should've made it in today's time instead of the 14th century. Though, each actor did try their best in this movie and I think that's one of the stronger points.

It was a good try, but it's obvious that they should've just stick with what worked before. I get it that they are trying for a different take on it as well as a different setting, but it didn't work out so well. Overall, not worth seeing this at either full price in the theater or even in the theater at all. A rental at best.
