Bohemian Rapsody - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I wasn't much of a Queen fan growing up. I only knew two of the songs they did. We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. They play those songs in nearly every single sports movie and at every sports arena in the country. They're the songs that every sports fan knows about. Then, as I got older, I noticed other songs by Queen. And I grew accustomed to the band itself. Still not a huge fan, but do like their music. Bohemian Rapsody is the song you have to lip sync to when driving your car when listening to it on the radio and do the Wayne's World scene. :) So, when I heard they're making a movie about Queen, I was intrigued. Especially since Sasha Baron Cohen dropped out of it to do the awful Brothers Grim movie. Ugh. Well, anyways, I went to see the movie just to see how Queen was.

The movie itself, was ok. It's not bad, but don't think it's great either. The movie is a formulaic rise and fall of a famous band. The kind you see on VH1 when they use to be about music. But, the acting is pretty good. They each played the part well. The one who played Freddie Mercury was spot on. If you didn't understand Queen, this movie will make a fan out of you. Especially the third act when they recreated the famous LiveAid concert performance when it made Queen into legendary status.

Overall, it's a ok, formulaic movie about Queen itself. If you think you're going in to see a movie about Freddie Mercury himself, you would be disappointed. But, if you're a fair Queen fan and want to see a movie about Queen, then you should see it.
