Halloween (2018) - moview review by JohnStripedfur

I'm not a horror fan by any means, but I like a good slasher movie. Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play, Scream, and, of course, Halloween. I've seen them all and each one is unique, but Halloween is the first that started it all. The slasher horror genre. It still holds up as far as the scare factor. I barely saw the sequels. Never saw 2, saw bits of 3 4 5 and 6, seen Halloween: H20, but never saw Resurrection. So, Not exactly a follower of the franchise, but I did liked the first movie. So, when I heard about this sequel that decides to ignore all of the other sequels. I was interested to see how it's done.

The movie itself was pretty good. Even though it follows the typical steps of any slasher movie, but it pays homage to the slasher genre that ran supreme throughout the 80s and 90s. Even to the original. Jamie Lee Curtis was excellent in this movie. You can see her bringing in the toughness and a bit of the PTSD she brings to her character after what happened 40 years ago. It's just as creepy and scary as the original, but with more kills. And more elaborate than the original had. Plus, there's one kill where it makes you go, "Whoa! All bets are off on this one." So, this is a good movie to watch on the Halloween season.

Overall, if you're a fan of the original or the franchise or a slasher fan in general. This movie is for you.
