Picking Up Work - Beating Depression by Vet

I've gotten a license recently, and now I can drive around as I please. The medication with 25 mg Sertraline daily as well as giving myself time to heal and work through my problems have been helping me immensely. I've just needed time. That's why I've been silent for such a while, but now I'm getting ready to get back to work and do commissions once more. I still owe one to a guy, but afterwards, I'll be setting up examples for you people to follow.

I have a feeling I'll be having a really fun time this summer vacation doing the things that I want artistically.

I missed you guys! I hope you are doing well.

Questions:

  • Now that I have a car and license, I can go around. I live in California! If you had the means, where would you go? Who would you want to meet locally?

  • How have you gotten out of a really bad slump?

  • What are artists that inspire you or blow your mind?

  • What type of music do you like listening to while you work? I myself enjoy listening to ambient Chiptune Music, or some alternative stuff such as Imogen Heap, Made In Heights, Floex, etc. I also dig The Protomen.

If I was in California, I'd drive down to San Diego, one of my best friends lives out there. I'd go get some In-n-Out, see what all the fuss is, then maybe check out the Zoo.

Getting out of bad slumps, heh, kinda workin on that myself. Self revelations, or rather, the acceptance of things, or really even just trying to muster the gumption to function if you will. Ideas are stewin, I needa get brewin. I'm just basically rhyming words without much thought at this _____. Fun, but pointless.

Music I like working to? Hmm. I like brash, spastic, headnodic music, almost anything anthemic. Strong presence of hip-hop, electronic (synth pop, dance, whatever), energetic alt/indie/whatever-rock. Last few albums I've listened to over the past few days were MJ's Thriller, Marva Whitney's It's My Thing, Tyler's Wolf, Doc Dre's 2001, Gnarls Barkley's St. Elsewhere, The Pillows FLCL OSTs, The Go! Team's Thunder Lightning Strike.

Oh man, if you ever head down there, you probably won't see me because I'm around Mid-South to North-ish California depending on the time of year. In-n-Out is a pretty good burger joint! Very salty, which I'm a big fan of. The San Diego zoo is excellent, well at least from what I remember as a kid.

I'm having fun reading this! It's only a matter of time before boredom kicks in and you begin to rhyme. I'm trying to write all the things I want to do on a list. Most of the times I don't do it, but it's good to get the gist of things. I'm trying to bring myself together, or I'll never get the things I want to do done.

I like some Hip-Hop on the occasion! Been listening to Jay-Z's remix album with Chrono Trigger by 2 Mello. Love me some "Ignorant Scene". I by myself as a vacuum listen to chill music with funky sounds that get me visualizing real well.

I know this is a long time ago but I was reading through old journals I've missed -- I was on sertraline at one point and it didn't go well for me, but I'm really curious about how it went for you!
