Tomb Raider - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I'm not much of a video gamer, but I have heard and know of Lara Croft. She was very popular back in the 90s. Hell, she was just as popular as Mario, Fox McCloud, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro back then. Even though I never played a single game, I had heard they were fun. But, if you look at them now, you can tell they were made for teenage boys. I did saw the original Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie and even though it was a fun movie, the story wasn't much there. It was a typical pre-9/11 action movie. I didn't bother to see the sequel because the original wasn't that good.

So, when I heard about the remake, I wanted to go see it because Lara Croft is such an interesting character that I think she'll do good in movies. And perhaps end the stigma of video games don't make good movies.

And after I saw it, it didn't end the stigma. The movie was ok. I did like the action scenes and Lara Croft was seen as a regular person trying to survive. It was pretty much an origin story of the character herself. Which is interesting, but I've seen this type of movie before. In fact, if you seen any Indiana Jones movie, even the Crystal Skull one, you've seen this movie. There isn't much to add to this. It's a typical clichéd adventure flick. Not that it's a bad thing. If you never seen this type of movie before, you would like it very much.

Overall, an ok adventure movie to see on a rainy day or on a plane. If you're a huge fan of Lara Croft and played all the games, you would like this movie.
