    I read that yesterday nigth....

To be honest... it sometimes happens... in the End FA is just another website to show and tell like everyothers DeviantArt Inkbunny So Furry Pixiv are just place to get along...

Now this is not the 1st time something like this happened in furaffinity... and probably nor the last one... i suggest sit and watch... wait a liltle more until see what happened... besides.. it seems to be a problem in the headquartes... not on the users...

And in the end if everythiongs go to hell... we would try to find anotherplace... or start by ourselves...

    FA got hacked?

    Again?

    *chuckle*

    • Link

.. did you even read it?

      • Link

As I'd commented just moments after it was posted, obviously not. You could read my own comments, however.

Or hey, just be that way all ya want. Doesn't really affect me.

        • Link

I was only remarking on the bizzarre phenomenon of someone commenting before reading the topic.

          • Link

It's not bizzare in the slightest. Now recorded are my initial reaction "Another hacking? How amusing." and my after-reaction "Ah, no. But interesting."

Consider you'd come up to me with that post printed out and said "Here's a leak from FA."

A sane person would respond with, "A new one? After the old note hacking? Was there a hack again?"

And then the story would be told and understood.

            It's really just conversation.

            • Link

*shrug* sorry if I sounded obnoxious. I tend to come across as such but I mean no harm. x3 Sorry for that.

          • Link

Oh, I do that all of the time.

Of course, when I realize I am talking out of my ass, I back off, but some people...

        • Link

Based on time stamps his response came before yours, so don't be a prick.

    • Link

Ah, not quite. Still a 'fun' read!

I can't wait for PDFs on Weasyl. That's really the ONE thing that's holding me back!

      • Link

Why PDFs? There's a bunch of formatting options on here already for writing, so I'm curious as to the reasoning.

        • Link

I typeset my works in LaTeX, giving them a much better look than what is normally offered. I don't like them forced into website formats.

          • Link

            Ahh, okay.

            • Link

I charge a lot for a story, I have to provide a high quality product! :D

  • Link

I do wanna kick Yak up the arse. And I know Neer is stressed but he needs one too. Simba had a point- he's too nicey nicey for the job... be it his site or no.

FA already has an immense following, collection of artists, users, awesome people, and it could be sooo much better than it is now. Hmh.

The problem is, people get complacent. The makers of FA are complacent with "well it's there and it works, take it or leave it", and are also complacent with the complacency of the users themselves. They know that people will stay, because nearly everyone's attitudes orbit the opinion "well I'm here and settled, and my friends are here too" instead of seeing the matter for what it really is, and saying instead, to their friends, "let's start over".

    • Link

None of the people running FA are business-minded. They're all just drifting from problem to problem with no strategic vision and no sense of urgency. It's the same disease that kills all bloated, old websites. Geocities was once untouchable---I'll note. In time, the better product wins out. Inkbunny and even more so (Weasyl) continue to grow.

      • Link

Let's hope. But the people populating FA are stagnant in their ways. They won't budge unless FA shuts, if the behaviour of my old watchers is anything to tell by.

I know what you mean about the business mind... I myself find the company I work for is headed quite badly, much in the same way FA is. Sorta wishy-washy attitude of people who are used to scooping up money and livin't it up with no regard to others. Though- I'll admit I don't even know if FA turns a profit at all.

        • Link

I imagine it doesn't, but it could.

    • Link

Nice? Were talking about the same person who made a sock-puppet account in the name of someone who died to bash people. Nice may not be the correct term.

      • Link

        I remember that.

        There were many sock puppets.

  • Link

Make sure you guys read part two :P

  • Link

Read this early this morning. All I get from it is Neer simply doesn't wanna put the work in to keep the place running right. If hes pissed with the tech issues and has people that are more qualified practically begging to do the job, then why not risk pissing off one person instead of pissing off the entire staff? And bringing Chase back into the fold is not only showing he's too lazy to screen for other admins, its also just plain ignorant and stupid to bring in someone that was out there damaging the fandom as a whole and thinking we might have forgotten about it. "Too nice" is putting it too nicely. The guy needs to put the big boy pants on and grow a spine.

  • Link

Honestly, I haven't seen much going on with FA and they added a commission tab that actually kinda sucks. I don't like it at all. totally messed me up because I keep hitting it instead of hitting the journals tab.

  • Link

I don't think they're ever going to learn.

  • Link

I don't think that tells us anything we didn't suspect, but the confirmation is nice, I suppose.

  • Link

Okay, so I've been trying to keep up with this BS, and if I'm reading correctly then Yak is the only one who fucks with the code anymore? Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • Link

Yes, and he's a real slow one. What the fuck has he been doing in the past 3-4 years?

      • Link

...I'm not sure if I'm more concerned about the lack of speed or the lack of coding staff.

        • Link

Staff? Yak is the only one.

          • Link

Essentially what I meant, that's why I said 'lack of', ahahaha. I'm not sure how they're managing a site of that size with just one coder.

  • Link

I'm agreeing with Grebij on this one I think.

I dunno man. I'm glad for the mass uploader / downloader tool near the end though. Think I'll be making use of that!

    • Link

The only significant revelation in there is that the writer thinks this is really shocking and significant.

  • Link

Seems like a good ole' fashioned case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians. That, and the majority of the staff needs a swift kick in the rear, Sciggles and Neer doubly so.

  • Link

    Talk about a sinking ship...

  • Link

FA messed with their code to disable the uploader. I dont know when kitashi will have it working again. :/

    • Link

I'm surprised they were able to get that done. :P

    • Link

      Oh lovely.

    • Link

Notice how they get shit done reeeeal quick when someone creates something they don't like :P

Makes ya wonder how fast they could make folder options, clean up their security holes, etc. if they really wanted to.

      • Link

They weren't parts of the site that are hard to change though. They just changed around the headers and small various other parts just to mess with the downloader. They have a reputation to ban/mess with people who make site transfer tools. If kitashi gets a version working that can't be messed with, it will be interesting to see what FA does.

  • Link

Well, that certainly was enlightening; I greatly appreciate Simba being willing - and to my mind quite brave - to disclose that information.

I'm not exactly "active" on either site, but I have had concerns for and with FA, mainly considering the friends and/or acquaintances I've made that - should FA degrade to a point of no return - I'm not certain I would have a way of contacting or interacting with.

Thanks for sharing the link with us, Kayla.

  • Link

I wonder how long it takes until they find and ban Simba's account. I noticed the empty admin account with shouts disabled (carmen). I just hope I am low enough profile that nobody bothers to try to hack my account.

  • Link

Noscrypt is blocking whatever this is. I'm not going to unblock it since Blogger is a great platform to inject maleware.

    • Link

      Don't click it then.

      • Link

I can if I want. That's the beauty of noscrypt. :3 It just doesn't display that page.

  • Link

It's mostly stuff that was already out in the open before. The fact that it's been a while since the last "leak" and things are still exactly the same is of itself pretty damning, and yet unsurprising to anyone that's been watching this dog and pony show for a while. Being recent news, it might convince some folks that the grievances against FA aren't just drama from users who ran afoul of the AUP, but I don't think there's going to be any kind of significant shift in userbase. Personally, it's just one more reason I'll continue edging away from using FA.

  • Link

Haha oh good lord. I just finished this is in one go and have to say, FA's administration reeks of authorial dickwavery and incompetence. Thanks for linking this.
