Hey folks!

This most recent opening for commissions was pretty nuts! There were 73 form submissions total this time around! That's almost 3x as much as the last couple times I've opened! With so much interest, and the near impossible task of slimming that number down to 15, I reflected a bit on the submissions I received.

There's a large discrepancy between what some folks ask for in a commission. I know for the most part, when I'm narrowing down the slots I take on, I pick up the ones that are most interesting to me! However...that ends up meaning that, unless the character was outstandingly cool or something, the really simple ideas wouldn't get picked. In the past, this wasn't such a big deal, admittedly - said ideas were among maybe 10 at most that got cut from the total submissions, and actually could usually compete with some of the more complex ideas anyway. However, with the sheer volume of submissions this time around, it just wasn't nearly as fair to cut out so many people that just want something quick and easy. There was a HUGE amount of submissions that just wanted a simple sketch or flat colored image, and it kinda feels unfair to deny them something quick because they're not getting some big painting. There were SO MANY really cool ideas and characters in the submissions this time that I really wanted to do!

So! I want to try something new. The original 15 slots are gonna be the first 8 submitted, and 7 of the more complex submissions hand-picked by me. They will be handled exactly the same as before. Multiple thumbnail sketches, will be streamed unless otherwise requested, etc. All the same as before!

In addition, I'm going to be trying out some form of bonus commissions waitlist. I'll take them on every so often when I have spare time or in between big commissions. These bonus commissions are comprised of the ideas submitted that were deemed simple enough that I could take on and finish fairly easily. They'll work a bit differently, though pricing is the same as normal:

-Won't all be taken on at once. Only several at a time, if folks respond in a timely fashion.
-A bit of random priority, often being taken in during spare time or between more complex commissions as a break or warm-up.
-May or may not be streamed. Sometimes I'll just do them on my own when I'm bored one night.
-Only one preliminary sketch (the vast majority are picked because they don't seem like they'd need one anyway)

If you get your commission as a bonus slot and these terms are not acceptable, that's okay! It can be turned down. I admit - its a bit of a gamble. We'll see how this works. I do know for certain, that with this and slavestreams, this batch will take /much/ longer. On the flipside, I think it'll be a lot more fair since I can work with more people. Going through it in my head, it felt really unfair thinking that some folks could end up resubmitting one simple idea cause it kept getting edged out by something more complex, especially if they just wanted the one thing. Despite taking on more bonus commissions, there were still a lot of cuts - my apologies to those that didn't receive a slot this time around! It was very tough going through these, especially with so many! Thank you all for your interest, I'm continually flattered <3

If you're on this list, I would like to ask you a favor to be ready in case I email you about your commission. I cannot say with any certainty when I'll email you to take on your commission. I completely understand if, for whatever reason, you are unable or uninterested in still getting the commission. If you like, I can rotate you out for someone else if you are not ready to take on the commission at that time; if you know when you might be, feel free to let me know!
