Apprehensive about approaching games by GuzzleMuzzle

If you're not a heavy gamer, or just stick with very casual fun, this may sound funny to you, but most definitely cringeworthy.

Do you wonder why people make so many references to retro video games?

In those days, we were essentially banging our heads against a wall concerning trying to overcome challenges in games. It's not too foreign a concept. People of all ages still do it.

I've become so lazy about my gaming habits that I barely even want to be challenged anymore.

A friend got me Diablo 3 + Reaper of Souls weeks ago. I love it. All you do is click on things and kill them. Want diverse control? You can hold shift before clicking to attack while standing, which is nice when your attack is ranged. You can also substitute clicking on UI icons and buttons with the keyboard keys. This isn't challenging. And I love it.

It's very fucking dumb, and disgraceful considering the kind of gamer I used to be, and yet it's one of my prefered types of games.

Skyrim is another. You could just drop faster leveling into your game and run with it, or grab some overpowered ability mod and go crazy.

I still BUY challenging games, because they're the best around. Spelunky, Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, TowerClimb, Super Meat Boy. I've just grown tired of banging my head against a wall trying to do good at these types of games.

Games are for fun. I honestly don't care if I'm not imposing a digital challenge on myself these days, which isn't to say that I can't handle many hard games. I just don't feel like everything needs to be this huge mountain of peril in every game I play.

And I'll still buy them anyway, if only to just fuck around. xD
