The Mummy (2017) - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I've never seen the original 1932 film, so I can't really say how the remakes take up to it. I really should see it. Though, I really love 1999's The Mummy. It's a really fun adventure movie with some hints of horror. It's almost like an Indiana Jones movie. Except instead of Indiana Jones, it had Brandon Frasier. I wonder why Brandon Frasier never did more of those kinds of movies. So, I was hoping 2017's The Mummy will entertain me as much as the last one did.

Universal has been trying to bring back their monster universe for many years now. They tried it with I, Frankenstein first. That obviously failed. Then, they tried it again with Dracula Untold and that failed as well. So, will it be third times a charm with The Mummy (2017)?

Yes and no.

It wasn't a terrible movie. I enjoyed it. But, it wasn't great. I think it set up the monster universe pretty well. Granted they put all their eggs in the basket this time, but not as much as others did. I thought it set up pretty well in the end. Course, we have to see how they will try it in their next movie which will be Bride of Frankenstein. Ugh. Anyways, I don't know why so many critics were giving crap on this movie. It wasn't overly terrible and the pacing was pretty good. Though, it does have a few issues and I can understand why they didn't like it. But, I don't this movie deserves the panning. I'm hoping their Dark Universe will do well and I can't wait to see the next one they'll do.

Overall, not a great movie, but an entertaining one. And definitely not terrible.
